I found a site for diabetic shoes that I like. They are not free, but I like the idea they have dress shoes that look a little nicer than the standard diabetic shoe. They are having a sale.

I think a lot of it has to do with what state you are in. I just got a pair of shoes threw medicaid in Louisiana but your first step is to go to a diabetic foot clinic.

I found this info on the web, not sure if it applies to you. I bought my dad Dr. Scholls with velcro straps and he loves them. Good luck!

8. GET FREE SHOES: If you are old enough for Medicare and have diabetes you may well be eligible for a free pair of shoes every year. Your foot doctor will carefully size and fit your foot to a New Balance, Florsheim or other fine shoe that will exactly fit your feet. Ask for details from your foot doctor.

HI,
I am going to get my shoes through medicare but I was told I would have to pay the taxes since medicare did not cover that. It would be about $15.00

I don't know where you can get the shoes free, but a couple of weeks ago I went to see a podiatrist and he had shoes in his office for sale. He also said that if I was on Medicare, the shoes were free.
