My kidneys are running at about 35%. I have severe itching that the Docs say is from my failing kidneys. Does anyone have this problem & have a relief for the itching? I have type 2 diabetes for the last 6 years also an artificial valve a pace maker. I'm 72 years old. thanks folks

Has your physician provided any suggestions for relief? This is a very common complaint in people with kidney issues, and there are known treatments that can be prescribed. One of the over-the-counter meds that is sometimes suggested is Tagamet, which is generally prescribed for acid reflux. These drugs are newer versions of histamine blockers (like a fancy Benadryl) and sometimes can help.

Definitely check with your doctor before starting or stopping any medications, even over-the-counter meds! Also, don't be afraid to ask your physician about options for relief from this itching!

I do not have kidney problems but I went through the whole itching thing for 2 months straight to where I was admitted to the hospital. I would try zertec, benadryl, any allergy meds. Also alot of people don't know this but I was prescribed zantac, which is a acid reflux med but also can work for itching. Good Luck!
