I would like to know if anyone out there has problems like I have just had. I was admitted to the hospital Wed night, got out today( Friday). I have burning in the middle of my chest, shortness of breath, and pressure like someone is sitting on me. Does anyone else have these problems? If so, does it have a name? My Dr doesn't know what it is yet. Next is a heart catheterization on Monday. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

The heart cath will be painless, they put you in twilight. You are aware of most of what is going on(but you don.t care!). I was in recovery room for about 45 mins., had a snack and some juice, then home. They put a plug in the groin area instead of stitches. More mobility, but still have to take it easy for a while..
Good luck Monday, until then, chill out and relax and try not to worry yourself too much. Best wishes.

Good luck Monday with the tests, hoping it's not your heart. About 10yrs ago I experienced something similiar..shortness of breath, doubling over with stabbing chest pains that went clear thru to my back. After an aray of heart tests and one doc even telling me it was psycological my internist ran a check on my gallbladder. Guess what…it had quit functioning. Took it out and no more problems. Just took them almost a year to figure it out . Wishing you the best come Monday!

I wish I could say it was my gallbladder. I was removed in 1988. Unless it grew back. HAHA! But I don' t think so. Thanks for the info! THANKS FOR THE WELL WISHES!!!

Wow does this sound familar but mine turned out to be acid reflux. The symptoms mimic a heart attack but the only difference is that they subside and heart problems don't. Good luck with your heart cath.

I thought acid reflux was what it was but mine don't go away. My tests so far look ok to this point. But I stillam having shortness of breath very regularly, pressure on my chest like someone is sitting on me, and burning. The burning has subsided enough to where it doesn't hurt but I know it's still there. Thanks for the information. THANKS AGAIN!

Sorry to hear about your symptoms. I recently lost my wife to a long battle with congestive heart failure. From my extensive experience it sounds to me like your in good hands and your cardiologist is following the right course of treatment. I've had 3 cardiac catheterizations and was extremely worried the first time. Don't be it was so easy and pretty painless. the hardest part is that for the first 12 hours after thr procedure you have to lay on your back and not move your leg so you don't open the site. Please know that with the camera they'll be using they can tell up close and personal exactly what is going on with you heart. They can also do lots of procedures without anymore surgery. Wether, they find anything or not they can plan the best course of treatment for you. When you were in the hospital they should have done cardiac enzyme blood work, and ekg's which would tell them if you had a heart attack. your tests had to be good or they would't have released you. so that's great news. Did they give you nitroglycerin? Did it relieve those feelings you were having? As a woman did you have pain in your shoulder or back? Women can present differently than men. I'd suggest you ask your doctor about a list of heart attack symptoms specifically for women. Whatever you do DON'T ignore this and forget about it. If you do it could have serious consequences later in life. I'll be praying for you and your doctors and the heart cath team on Monday please let us know how things turn out.

I had actually went to the Dr Wed evening and they called an ambulance that took me to the hospital. I had 3 nitro while I was there and more at the hospital. Yes they did do the blood work you mentioned. They really wasn't going to release me, I told him I wanted to go home and would return Monday morning for the catheterization. They did 3 ekg's all together. Both my sisters have serious heart problems along with the diabetes so I am following in their foot steps as well. I don't like the thought of laying for hours, though. I have a bad back. Thanks for the info. The nitro's didn't do anything for the pain, pressure, burning, etc. Yes I hurt in the upper part of my back as well. Thanks for the prayers!! Keep in touch. I will let you know how it goes.
