My husband and I are headed to Williamsburg, VA, Busch Gardens, Virginia Beach areas July 22 - 25. I have purchased an insulated lunch bag/purse-type, to carry my insulin in. My injections are before meals. AM I going to have a problem carrying a "sharps" into the theme park areas. Should I make an extra trip back to my vehicle just to take my injection ? How do you handle this when traveling to certain areas ?

Here's a site that's all about going to Disney with Diabetes:

Lots of good tips there.

Thanks Amy for this site info. We are planning the Christmas Holidays in Disneyworld. Were hoping to leave the day after Christmas. If all our schedules can come together. But 3 of us are diabetic and with the carb counts and everything already available here, I just going to print out this sheet. Thanks a lot…Debe

You should be able to bring them in with you,
Remember to bring you tablets too. Water I got a small picnic bag for my stuff, we are leaving the 18th for Texas to see his folks.
I am also carrying my exteand bars. ohh put one in your bag too you can eat before going to the park, the stay in your system for about 9 hours no crashing, no highs, they keep you stable.
Best thing for traveling, exercising and sleeping.
Be safe on the trip and huggles

Thanks Catherine for your info. I really neede the feedback for this before we do go on this little trip. Since I started on Insulin in December just last year, I never had to worry about this problem in the past. How were you able to dispose of your sharps in a place like this ? Would they have a place to go for this or should I carry a water bottle just to throw them in when I finish the water ? Thanks again. Angie

They sell little sharps containers for your purse or carrying case at walmart. I would get one of these so that you don't have to worry about where to put them.

We've never been to Busch Gardens, but at Disneyland they were great. We just told them our son was diabetic and they glanced at his supplies and said, "OK."

We used a small back pack to carry snacks, water, and diabetes supplies.

I would think with 24 million diabetics in America, every theme park is pretty accustomed to seeing diabetes supplies.
