Hi and welcome! Sorry you have found out this news, but like someone else said, glad you found us. I found out almost a year ago,and like so many others, I am STILL learning also. Just when I think I know everything and I took all of the classes the first couple of months too, so I encourage you to take classes offered in your area and if insurance does not pay for it, like mine did (I wish everyone could have free diabetes classes) maybe there are some free ones in your area. I've heard about those. This is so important. You will find lots of support here and many who can answer all of your questions. If I can be of any help, I try to be. Sometimes I am not on here much and other times I am. I used to feel like I was going to pass out, and I remember one year ago today, on Halloween, I was trying to have fun helping out at my daughter's fall festival at school and I felt weird. I had to stop helping and go to the schoo nurse. She was not able to check my BS or blood pressure at that time. This feeling lasted a few hours, but got better after about one or two. So…I am looking forward to having fun with her today "knowing" I will feel great and I can enjoy it to the fullest. I remember it was a relief to "know" what was wrong with me, though I did not like the news. I can honestly say, had it not been for this diagnosis, I would not be taking this much care of myself and it surely is a good thing, when you eat right and exercise, and you are definitely decreasing your chances , big time, of having major complications.

Hi, Mike, I know it's scarry to find out you have this disease, but if you follow your doctors instructions, exercise, stick to your diet, and take your meds on a regular basis, you'll be okay. Diabetes has run in my family for years. I have recently been put on Metformin for it. You will have to make some lifestyle changes but you can do it. Hang in there!

Welcome to the family, Mike. Living with diabetes can be a pain but you can live with it. I've done so for many years and I actually live quite well. It in some ways makes me live better than I would otherwise. I no longer drink alcohol and I certainly eat much more healthy food. The most important thing to do is listen to your doctor and other health care professionals. For other questions and concerns, we're here.

Hi Mike, I just found out I m a type 2 diabetic a month ago, and it was scary at first but I thought about it. I had to do some simple things to stay healthy. So I added eating the right way and exercise to my daily routine. And it's a real learning experience. My dad is diabetic also has been for over 20 years so he was very quick to make sure that I was on the right path so Im glad for that. And of course this site is wonderful I enjoy being able to sign on and chat with real people and friends that share the same things in common on a daily basis. So hope you find comfort on diabetic connect I sure do.
