I am 26 years old and have been T1 for 21 years. I have a 9 month old child and this whole mom thing is new to me. I just joined this website this week, I find it interesting that there are so many people with similar problems and concerns. I need some encouragement with my diabetes, maybe people that understand my daily obstacles. My parents have always "griped" at me about taking care of myself, but I've always had the "you don't understand" attitude. My new husband isn't easy to talk to about it either, cause he doesn't get it. I know these people love me, but it would be nice to have some support from people who have been there.

Hello and welcome. Sorry to hear your situation but I am glad you have a new child. Adult conversation can sometimes be worth its weight in gold.

Please take care of yourself, as you have a child that you want to see (hint, you do want to keep your eyesight) walk down the isle.

Please feel free to ask away.

We tend to be pretty open about just any topic that falls within or about Diabetes.
And we have had some weird discussions in the past.

again. welcome to DC.

Well now you have a very wonderful reason to take much better care of yourself, a new child. Who's just like a sponge taking in and watching everything mommy's doing when your least expected. They learn from us, so take care of yourself cause it's only one of us, I too am a mom of 3 teenage boys, 21,19,16 and that's a reason for me to care for myself and to let them see me take of myself. Hubby will fall into the program he cares, he's just having his on issues right now. Some men are hard to talk to so is my hubby, but after 22yrs of marriage it's gotten much much better. He comes to me with questions about everything and it's such a wonderful feeling. So you just take a deep breath and hang on in their life's good!! And yes your friends are always here at diabetic connect. Its a great site.
