so sorry this happened to you. 120 BS is a very good number. I have never given blood, but this topic does make me wonder if perhaps, it is harder for a diabetic to, maybe not. I don't know, just wondering.

i have never had a problem with blood being drawn because they take it from my viens on top of my hand. should they try to get it from any other area i would surely pass out.

they did not take it from the top of my hand but in my left arm. this was the frist time that I did it, but I hope I will find out friday when I go to Doc's so thank you for you input.

I think I read that you put some heat on your draw site. Ice yes heat no. Sometimes when you get blood drawn you faint. Sometimes you get a "heavy handed " lab tech that just does not get a good draw. I especially watch out for students from the local medical classes at the college. I refuse to let them touch me. Smart to have your doc check you. I used to faint everytime they drew blood when I was pregnant. LOL The youngest of those babies is 32.

Yes I did but only two days after they did the draw of my blood . But the wost part of this is that it was one of the lab Tecks that is always at the hospital. they don't seem to have students there . . but I will have my BP checked out a long getting my A1c report to see where I am at.sent I started the insulin on Spt 25th so I hope and pray that things come out good. thank you

I would not worry too much about it if this is the first time that it happened. You shold follow up with your doctor. I use to get really sick and about to faint when I first started to get my blood taken but I am now very use to it now and it doesn't bother me at all anymore.

ONeil 2009-10-26 19:59:48 -0500 Report

Yes , I will see my Doc friday , but I never got sick or pass out on haveing my blood drawn . I did call the Dr. and that is when he will see me. thank you for you answer.

Has it happened before? Two of my daughters work for Red Cross donor services. Quite a few pass out when donating, nothing unusual about that. Every so often a donor will pass ot or come close when they do the finger stick for testing. Afew vials are a bunch less than a pint of blood. I would discuss it with your Dr., but if this is first time, I wouldn't worry too much.
