Can Artificial Sweeteners Cause Hives?
I never drank alot of coffee until I started on a low carb diet with my daughter . I used to drink coffee with just cream in it but for some reason now it just doesnt taste good. However..now I have been using Splenda or other artificial sweeteners most all of us diabetics use in my coffee. I love it! …and… instead of drinking one cup a day I might drink 3 with a total of three packs of artificial sweetener used a day . Now I have noticed that I am getting hives …everywhre I scratch it leaves raised marks … searched it on internet and its definitely hives. The hives come and go … in the morning and in the evening. But it is annoying and I read this can last 4 to 8 weeks…but I dont know if its the sweetener I am using …has anyone else ever had a reaction to sweetener when you never had before? Can they be known to cause hives? I am new here and I also wanted to say hi and this looks like a great site!

Having seen hives in other people when functioning in my professional capacity and having had them myself, I feel compelled to comment that based on the information you provided, I am not so certain that you are experiencing hives. May I suggest that you get the opinion of a health care provider who can examine you in person and evaluate the phenomenon you are experiencing. A misdiagnosis could be costly in more ways than one. Take care.
can you elaborate on a misdiagnosis as being costly…what do you exactly mean and just tell me what other conditions have YOU seen or know of that would cause this?
