I have a post called "Free Stuff" and it lists all kinds of things you can get for free. Yesterday, I got my free cook book from Merck that is put out in conjunction with the American Heart Association.
It has 47 great recipies and it also has mini worksheets for your goals in your control of blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes. It has helpful tips in it and all the nutritional values of each recipe in grams and exchanges. I have not done anything out of it yet, but you all know me…I will.
It is FREE, truly free, no hidden pennies to send. Play a game on their site, learn about your heart and win a free book.

I like the book, but would recommend substituting low carb for many of the dishes. For a heart healthy book, it has a lot of sugars in it. So just use your Setvia, xylitol or Agave and you will do much better. They are all yummy that I have tried so far.

Yes I just got Stevia from my Dad he brought it back from Brazil..MUCH cheaper there..I am really excited to try the receipies, but was also a bit surprised regarding the sugar content. Keep the freebies comming Gabby…they are FANTASTIC!!! Thank you!!!

I did another recipe from this book last night and I couldn't stop munching them. It was for roasted carrots and they were to die for. I am a nut for carrots anyway, but these were great and you could use the recipie on almost any tuber veggeie like sweet potatoes, parsnips, zucchini (not a tuber, but I think it would taste great) Even on apples if you feel like being really brave.
Check out the recipe section for "Roasted Carrots".

Those carrots…yuuummmmmy. Even the most conservative ones in the family liked them. Thanks for the hints.

I just posted a recipe from this book on our recipe page called Glazed Chicken with Apple Salsa. I made it for dinner tonight and it was yummy. A little high on the sugar contenet, but there are ways to cut that back.

Hey Gabby,
please give me the web-site or whatever I need to to get the free cook book. I found in an item on the book review 7/8/08 that there is a book " The All_Natural Diabetic cookbook" from Amazon for $12.89 plus tax. With these 2 books I can begin my library.

Hey butterfly_8,
Here is a link that will take you to the discussion I listed with all kinds of Free Stuff.
The first one is the book, but there might be something else you would like to pick up. I still have not cooked from mine yet, but I will.
