I am generally lumped in with type 2 diabetics, but am diabetic due to the loss of 70% of my pancreas due to a pancreatic tumor. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one, even though I know it isn't so. Some doctors don't recognize that there are differences between me and their other "type 2" patients.

I have hypothyroidism, which can cause you to become a diabetic. However, regardless of the cause for the diabetes the results are the same. Diabetes is diabetes, I focus on ways to get myself healthier. Each day is a new day and a new chance to make better choices. I went to the diabetes classes, asked lots of questions, read all the materials I can get on the subject. I am type 2 diabetic. I see no difference in having diabetes because of genetics, diseases or any other reason. That is just my opinion. I feel I have the same challenges as all other diabetics. :)
