No, having high blood sugar doesn't cause obesity, but it doesn't help it either. Each individual is different, lowering your weight usually causes the blood sugar to go down if that individual is diabetic, but again it depends on the individual. I'm type II not because of my weight although that can stand improvement. I'm not sure if this answers your question.

My primary always said that if I would lower my weight that my BG's would be a
lot easier to keep in control. I use to have high BG's and have to have Laser Surgury for Retinopathy. So I have been working very hard to keep the weight off.
Lost another 5Lbs when DR. checked me today. Dan

Congrats on your weight loss! That is good news!! I know that when I exercise it lowers my blood sugar, but for some it doesn't. Any amount of weight loss is a positive step towards living a healthier life. Best of luck to you on this journey that we share. ;o)

Of course it is not good to have high blood sugar! The poster asked if obesity was a symptom of high blood sugar. I was explaining to her that when my blood sugar was high I tend to loose weight therefore high blood sugar does not cause obesity. I also put (Not a recommended diet plan). I think maybe you misunderstood my post. Reread it and you may see what I was saying. As an undiagnosed diabetic I went from 180 pounds to 135 pounds. So I know what I am talking about here. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and have had an extremely difficult time controlling my blood sugars. It has certainly not been my choice to have high bs. But when I do have high bs I tend to loose weight. That is what I was trying to explain to the poster. I know all the possible outcomes of having uncontrolled diabetes. I deal with the possibility of amputations, blindness, organ failure, coma and death daily. It is not easy for me at all to know as a young mother this may be a part of my and my child's future. But I am doing the very best I can and would never encourage anything less from anyone else. I was simply answering the posters question. Please reread my post. I wish the best for you as well.
