Just interested to know what some of you eat for breakfast? I know that bacon and eggs have no carbs, but then I have to worry about the cholesterol and fat! I need some ideas. Can anyone help?

I was just wondering what's the best things to eat in the mornings. Now I know and yes like everyone else I luv PB too!! I enjoy the oatmeal every morning that's something I've done for years. When eating bread should I stick to wheat or what? And how much PB on the bread? Thanks for the good ideas.

I am sorry for getting grouchy. I did not mean to hurt anyone or to stop this great and helpful conversation. I do not feel good as I am in lots of pain, I am sorry everyone.

no/low-carb diets can cause constipation, headaches, bad breath, muscle cramps and weakness.

No offense to Turtle but, I could never function well, on a half of slice of bread with a smear of PB. To me this is an afternoon snack!

Tropicana makes a low carb OJ, and with all the whole grains flours and cereals, you can eat the same things you did as a kid and food can be healthier today. The egg whites in the cartons (like eggbeaters) are great mixed with one real egg.

So, eat what you want and enjoy! Just be smart about it! Portion control is huge@!!@

I love PB too and will make sweet potato pancakes topped with cooked seasonal fruit (apples are in right now) and PB, a side of Tropicana's low sugar OJ, and a cup of coffee or tea Really filling and carbs are healthy. The fruit and PB takes the place of butter and syrup so, it is a smarter choice.

I have been having some of the side effects you mentioned but did not associate them with my choice of low carb dieting. Thanks for the suggestions for breakfast choices and about the OJ. :0)

I did not mean to eat the cinnimon toast alone…I was just giving an idea of something to put together w/ something else.I am not an idiot.

I usually have vegetable stir fry with one egg and one slice of pumpernickel bread and a cup of tea with cinnamon. Had to give up the oj, but replaced it with the tea.

Cinnimune Toast
1/2 to 1 piece if weat bread w/ slightly p-butter on it then add cinnimon and artificial sweetner and broil until the top of stuff begins to bubble…usually only seconds. Enjoy!

I forgot you are supposed to toast the bread before you put the p-butter on it.

Turtle 2009-10-04 20:02:48 -0500 Report

The 1 piece of toast is a carb., yes and so you only have 1/2 to 1 piece per meal. The p-butter is a protein that helps balance the carb. You could add a banana and eat small amounts of p-butter on it too. You can put some cinnamon on your toast. Then broil it just a few seconds until the top begins to bubble.. that is really good and it is even better if you put some artificial sweetner on the toast before you broil it.

**My head is swimmy tonight and I am having difficulty hitting the right keys. I think it is the meds I am taking. I am in my new home now so my meds are provided and I have been off most of them for some time. I forgot about that.

make sure you let the staff know that you are having side effects from the meds that are new to your system again..just so everyone is on the same page. Feel better!

my fave breakfast,
saute onion & red, yellow & orange bell peppers. next add a bunch of baby spinich leaves, after these are pretty well cooked I add meat such as chicken, hotdogs!, ham, sausage, even spam! whatever I have. I top with a sprinkle of cheese. salt & pepper to taste. delish

I also like apples & peanut butter, I have even had tuna salad 4 breakfast…it never has to be traditional.

Thanks for the suggestion. Regarding the toast, that's where I get confused…about the cards, I mean. We can have SOME, right? What carbs do you eat and when?

Another good choice for breakfast that I like is oatmeal because it is healthy and has fiber. Adding cinammon is good also because cinammon helps with our blood sugar.

I like scrambled eggs with onions, bell pepper and cheese. I have purchased the Steel Oats but haven't tried that yet. It provides fiber and from what I have read people really like it because it keeps you feeling full.

I also eat fruit for breakfast.

Lot of folks are talking fresh fruit for breakfast. Do you know if it's better to eat earlier in the day than later… for the sugar and carbs, I mean.

Turtle 2009-10-03 22:26:23 -0500 Report

I like toast, I piece, with p-butter on it and some fresh fruit. I drink non-fat milk so I would have a cup of milk. It is good you are getting ideas because breakfast is so important.
