Sorry its late folks. I have been Quilting again just starting for the Winter. Feel free to put down anything you feel we should know. If we are doing something wrong and you can see what it is to keep our numbers up and the weight from going down please let us know in a kind way. Thankyou Hope to see all of you here for the comeing Months.

Hello again everyone I am beginning to feel like I am the only one on here again. but that is Ok I will still post just to give you all something to read and maybe give me some pointers in return. I was reading my Diabetic Living Magazine today and they had an Article on Write off the pounds It is about a Food Journal and some of the things they say to ask your self while doing this is
Am I eating healthfully?
Am I eating consistently?
How does eating affect my blood sugar?
Are my medications Working?
How does exercise affect my blood sugar?
and the last one
Do I eat more when I'm upset?

Then on the next page they tell you what to write
1. Times we eat: List what times you have meals and snacks (and random nibbles)
2. What you eat: it may seem obvious, but do list amount and detailed descriptions of foods, such as 1/2 cup fat-free milk or 14 small round tortilla chips.
3. Blood Glucose: Note your fasting blood glucose level ( and other times as directed). Consider occasionally checking before and 2 hours after your biggest meal.
4. Medications: Note when you take oral or injectable blood glucose lowering medications and how much you take.
5. Physical activity: Write down the type and minutes of formal exercise, such as walking or biking, as well as any informal physical activity, such as gardening or housework.
6. Feelings: Jot down how you feel physically (tired, weak, energetic) and emotionally ( angry, stressed, happy, bored).

I am going to get me a new journal Tomorrow and start it on the 1st of Nov then on the First of each month I will write down the questions for the month just past and see how I answer them
I have gone to Diabetic Living online.com and have found 46 different answers to my Write off the pounds so I will check it out and come back later and add more here for all of us. Good Night All have a Great Friday and a Better Weekend.

Hello Everyone I am starting to feel alot better now and am posting all of my numbers now for the last two weeks I can't remember when the last time was that I posted so am doing for 2 Weeks together.
On Oct. 12th @ 5am it was 78 then @ 10:58 it was 102 at 7:20pm it was 159 and then @ 11:24 it dropped to 64
On Oct 13th @ 4:46 am it was 68 then at 4;22 pm it was 138 didn't check again that day.
Oct 14th @ 7:37am it was 199 and then at 7:16pm it was 169 didn't check again that day.
Oct 15th @ 5:03 am it was 152 and then at 3:23 pm it was 206 and again @ 6:36 pm it was 69
Oct. 16th @ 4:41 am it was 162 and then @ 5:50 pm it was 180
On Oct 17th @ 7:13 am it was 131 then @ 8:18 pm it was 121
Oct 18th @ 7:03 it was 188 and then @ 8:57 pm it was 237 That is when I got real sick and then over the next few days it bounced around the board on me.

Now for last week Oct 19th @7:21 am it was 71 and then @ 10:51 it was 189 then @ 4:49 it was 144 then on Oct 20th I didn't check it till @4:24 pm it was 263 and then @ 7:13pm it was 161
Oct 21st @ 7:17am it was 103 and then @ 5:57pm it was 163
now on Oct 22nd @ 5:24am it was 137 then I didn't check it again till 8:17pm it was 266
on Oct 23rd 7:06 am it was 86 didn't check again till 5:48pm it was 201 on Sat the 24th @ 6:32 am it was 70 then @ 3:20 pm it was 141 @ 7:26 pm it was 175 then at bedtime 8:43 pm it was 152
on the 25th I didn't check it all day till 9:42pm it ws 156 How I got it that low for the day with out checking it I don't know. I did house work and cross stitched on the quilt I am working on and only ate when hungry not any time else. Lost track of time most of the day.
Well that is it till next Sunday and then I will post from the 26th to the 1st of Nov.

I know I wasn't going to be online all week cleaning up my Quilting Room but have been to sick to do much so thought I would get online today and hope I don't throw up again while working on here. I have a bad case of Broncitus have had it for over a week now. Am on Meds for it but so far not getting rid of it yet.
I just want to crawl in bed and shut the world out. LOL
Please keep Bill and me in your Prayers as he has the Flu (h1n1) kind. Says he is starting to feel better today I sure hope so.

Good Evening Every one;
I have been sick this last week and because of it my Quilting room is in a mess and need to be off line till I get it cleaned back up may take me all week then again maybe not. I have decided to post all of this last weeks numbers tonight.
Mon. the 12th @ 5 am 78 @ 10:58 am 102 @ 7:20 pm 159 and then @ 11:24 64
Tues the 13th @ 4:46 am 68 then at 4:22 pm 138
Wed. the 14th @ 7:37 am 199 then @ 7:16 pm 169
on Thurs. the 15th @ 5:03 am 152 and @ 3;23 PM 206 THEN @ 6:36 PM 69
Fri the 16th @ 4:41 am 162 then @ 5:50 pm it was 180
Sat. the 17th @ 7:13 131 then @ 8:18 I stoped by the house with my ex daughter in law and her kids and my sugar was 121 I got my shots and took her and the kids home and waited there for Bill and her husband to show up so I could come home they didn't get back till just before 10 pm so we had a long day and a short night didn't get to bed till almost 11 last nite and back up on
Sun the 18th today @ 7:03 am 188 and then at 8:52 pm it was 237 as you can see when I am sick it jumps all over the place will be so happy when I am feeling well again and the numbers come back down.
I am posting a new recipe later and hope all like it and will try it. Look for Chicken noodle soup with chopped up Broccoli. It only has 3 ingredients and is fast to fix.

Ok now here is the next part of what I was talking about yesterday.
Ready to take action or already taking action? Here's what to do next.
Once you've started you new havit, you'll want to take steps to keep doing what you're doing. These steps can help:
1. Set up things around you so it'll be easier to stick with your new habit.
Example: stock up on veggies and fruit instead of high calorie snacks.
2. Make it easy to find time for your new habit by changing your schedule or your routine.
Example: if you prefer to walk in the morning before work, get up a little earlier so you'll have time.
3. Think about roadblocks that might come up and plan ways to get around them.
4. Ask for support from Family, Friends, and your Health Care Team.
5.If you sometimes slip up and go back to your old habit, don't despair. You can start fresh tomorrow.
6. Keep track of your efforts by writing down what you're doing.
7. Vary your routine to keep it interesting.
8. Reward yourself for sticking with your plan.

REMEMBER: it takes time to make new habits, but your patience and persistence will pay off in the long run.

Good Day to you All! I have been reading a booklet I got from the American Diabetes Association called What can I eat? On page 25 they have Where do I start?
Setting Up Your Game Plan. You may be left wondering where to start. The best place to start depends on you!
Only you can identify the changes you are ready to make to your diet and lifestyle. Before setting out, ask yourself a few questions.
1.What's my goal?____________________________
2. What change would help me reach my goal?_____
Now it's time to really think about the specific steps you can take. To change a habit, you'll need a realistic achievable plan. Your plan should be as specific as possible. Write you plan out on a sheet of paper:
A. Here's What I'll Do:_________________________
Example: I'll take a brisk walk 5 days a week for half an hour.
b. Here's when I'll do it:________________________
Example: I'll walk after breakfast.
c. Here's what I need to get ready:________________
Example: I'll need comfortable walking shoes.
d. This might get in the way of my plan:___________
Example: If it's raining, I won't be able to walk outside.
e. If that happens, I'll do this instead:_____________
Example: I'll go to the Mall and walk around the Mall Walk Route they have mapped out for that use.
f. Here's when I'll start:_________________________
Example: I'll start my walks on Monday Oct. 12th 2009
I hope this helps you some. I know it is going to help me and I can use this for exercising, dieting and everything else in my life I want to get done. As I find information like this I will post it to help all of us.

Ok I haven't posted my numbers since the 4th so here we go. On Mon the 5th @ 4:34 am 113 then not again till 7:52 pm 222 On Tues. the 6th @ 5:56 pm 174 didn't check it all day running low on supplies had to stretch till I got some money. On Wed. the 7th @ 5:20 am 156 then @ 5:01 pm 214 @ 8:31 pm 106 On Thurs. the 8th @ 7:51 am 99 @ 9:34 pm 195 then on Fri. the 9th @ 6:41 am 138 didn't check it again till Sat. the 10th @ 5:24 am 71 @11:53 am 148 then @ 5:47 pm 92 got my supplies refilled so can keep better track and they made it for checking 6x a day. Then @ 9:28 pm 122 On Sun the 11th @ 8:12 am 70 then @ 4:20 pm 161 and the last one for yesterday 8:11pm 133 and this morning it was back down to 78 I am eating the way I want to and the numbers are starting to come down more and staying down lower then before. I am glad that things are starting to go in the right direction for me. I will post my Weight later maybe tomorrow before I get dressed for the day. Hopefully I have lost a little more weight.

Sorry to hear about your hands wish I could help. I am working on Birthday presents for Drake. PJ;s fireman and thomas and 2 wall hangings for my self. Got megan quilt done for her to its a christmas present for her cousin.. Yes its called tieing off with yarn. But I dont use it. I usr dmc thread.

Tammy I never thought of using DMC thread to tie off a Quilt I always used Yarn one that matches any of the colors I have in the Quilt. Will try the DMC thread on the Double Wedding Ring Quilt when I put the top and back together. I finished the Top this Morning and am now waiting for the Batteries for the Camera to recharge so I can post the Finished Top on here for All to see. Will delete the other Picture of it as I progress on it so when done only the finished Quilt will be on here. LOL

I have never used yarn. I use the big ball og dnc I get at walmart by the yarn. I have many diffrent colors.

Thank you Tammy I will check it out and use some. the Quilt top is posted now check it out and let me know what color to tie off with. Might get several and use all of them. LOL should stand out in a crowd.

Just had another appt with the hand doc and he is furious that I am still trying to do my crafts. I am supposed to be taking it easy. I tried to tell him that his is me taking it easy but that didn't fly. Guess I will have to look into some other gift ideas and hope my hands clear up soon so I can get back to my projects. BUMMER!

I am planning to get the bottom done on my grandaughter's quilt today. Then I want to start to, what do you call it, tie it off? Use yarn to tie in different spots to hold it all in place. I know one thing…this kid will be plenty warm!! Have a great day everyone! suzy

OH so good to hear from all you quilters. I just posted the top I got donr tonight. Will show the lady than I will tie it off. Will have to get the quilt frame out. It takes up so much room. Good thing its only a bab quilt. . I habe a motorcycle quilt I need to finish to. Hubby was to get it 2yrs ago for christmas. May be this yr.

Tammy you talk about me being bad you should have finished the Hubby's quilt first then started on the rest of them. LOL
With Bill starting Truck School tomorrow I will have all day every day to get my quilting done now so that means I will be quite busy this winter with just one or two trips if Tammy can go with me that is.

Well Megan is the one who did all the quilting. ITs a bike app on the fabric. So its really megan project I just had pay for it. Ha ha

To all the quilters out there I have a request. I am looking for an idea for a simple gift. I am already working on several projects for the holidays and was planning to make my younger brother a new afghan it is half done but I have to temporarily give up my crochet & knitting since I am having trouble with my hands. I know that with my other projects I don't have the time to start a complex piece but I am stumped on what I can make that won't take a lot of time. On my project list are 2 Anniversary quilts, 2 twin size applique quilts for my neices, 4 patchwork throws for my nephews and assorted embroidary pieces that I just need to edge to finish. Obviously with just 2months to christmas I am cutting it close. Any ideas? I do craftwork to east my stress and this is doin the exact opposite.

One of my Family men want a quilt that is reversable but not gaudy as he calls them. He said his favorite colors and wants one for each side and then just a simple tie off to make it quick for him to use while watching TV at night. His colors are Blue and Dark Blue so I have made a quick lap throw with the Navy Blue and a med. Blue using a lighter Blue for the trim. He loves it.

I am working on one for my grandaughter. I just got 2 different patterned flannel. I bought 4 yds of each, split in half and stitched them side by side. Putting together today with batting. It hasn't taken me much time at all and it is almost finished. I am just sewing it wrong side out, then turning. All I have left is the bottom seam and it will be done!

Hi everyone;
Hey I am glad to see the new Quilter's also on here. On the motivation for the walking look on it as a new site seeing tour and looking for some colors to put into your quilts and also maybe some Nature pictures to include also. I would love to hear about the area you live in. Starting tomorrow Bill is starting Truck Driving Training so I am going to start walking that trail near us between 18 and the road just South of Us maybe I can walk from one to the other and back again. Also I will be back in the Gym then also. My knee is no longer hurting everytime I touch it and now I can get my leg bent further than on Friday. I used triple Anti biatic medication and two bandaids to cover it. LOL
Next time when my leg starts to feel funny I will push the off button quicker and step to the sides and back off of the machine that way. Not wait for my leg to give way.

Following you will notice my numbers from the 1st of Oct. to last night. I forgot to check this morning and didn't take my meds either.

Ok the 1st @ 6:45 am 172 didn't check again till yesterday the 3rd. @ 6:27 am 132 then @ 6:38 pm 199. and again @ 8:56 it was 107
This morning I ate a bowl of spoon size shredded wheat frosted on one side and then alittle while ago I had 5 snack crackers with cream cheese,chopped ham and green onions all mixed up together. That was the last of it till I get hungry for it again. It took me all week to eat the mixture. It had one bunch of green onions, 3 pkgs. of deli ham chopped up and 2 of the 8oz pkgs of cream cheese. the next one will only have one cream cheese one bunch of green onions and 2 pkgs of ham unless I buy a large chunck of Ham and make ham spread as well for Bill's Lunchs and I will have some of it too. I haven't made any in about 7 Months. So it is about time again. I will make a sandwich to go with the Salads I make for his lunch now.
Well I need to run for now so will write more tomorrow. I will post each morning after Bill leaves so as to have my day open ahead of me and then post the next morning what I did the day before including my walks or exerciseing at the gym.

Hi! I'm getting ready to start quilting again, too! I'm hoping that keeping my hands busy and my mind concentrating on a project will help me forget some of the cravings!! My numbers haven't been very good for a while…have another appt with my doctor next Tuesday…hopefully he can refer me to a dietician.

Ya for the 2 new quilters. I will be posting the quilt top tomorrow. I want to keep it. Well dr vist wasnt that good. I didnt get yell at cuz dum ins wont pay for meds. Al when up. So dr wants me to call ins. I hate doing stuff like that. She gave me a new med to. Let see if ins will fill it this time. Will have to wait till fri.Edie thanks for listening to me the other day when I called you. Drake never took his nap at all. My son didnt look to please either.

I am new to quilting as well as diabetes! I find that quilting keeps my hands busy so they are not busy feeding my face!! lol It is very satisfying and I am making some nice gifts for my granchildren for Christmas. Happy Quilting!

I too am quilting Edie :) The best stress reliever in my opinion. I am new to it and just love it. Help me to stop thinking about food to :)

I have put myself on pretty strict low carb diet since my numbers have been pretty high lately due to a steroid shot. But I'm starting to see the numbers drop and a few lbs too :)
Now I just need to get back into my walking now that my pain is under control too.
Sure wish I had a walking buddy here. My son goes with sometimes but not often enough. Good thing I have my mp3 player and I live surrounded by mountains. Makes for a lovely walk :)
