Another question and perhaps a little help here, I was laid off a week ago, even though I am past the retirement age I do need to work at least another year, maybe less. It is harder for me to deal with the stress than it is to deal with diabetes. I know this causes my BS to go higher and higher, I need just plain talk on this,. not like my doctor who just tell me to relax, I ask him just what would you do if you were in my shoes and he said —-I do not know-itis rough. I have been praying for stability and need your suggestions also and prayers. Thanks gang, I am so happy that I found this site-I have so many questions

You will do fine. Just hang in there. We all have those days when we just want to lay down and die....then we get a spark from someone. It's okay to have days like that, just keep them as few as you can. You will love it here. There are so many great people that have wonderful attitudes and some who are quite funny. Glad you like it here.

so sorry about your situation it is nnot easy trying to live these days. our time is comming for retirement and i do not know how we will make out either it is all ways on my mind. I try and keep bussy and walk a lot i like to window shop as well look for bargans meet with positive people for lunch and exersise with a senior swimm class 1 hr every three days, you have to find some entertainment that is cheep. take up a hobby get some good books to read at the library . try not to think abought it. positive people are the best and exersise relives stress as well play the radio dance around the house. hope this helps. if you look around there is allways someone worse off than us. thank God for life he will look after you.

Touche' Gabby! You are so right about being with positive people…also, just look around and you will generally find someone who is worse off than you are. Believe me, with the way the economy is right now, there are people without homes, family, friends, and even the basics, i.e., food, shelter, everyday. Our whole society is in danger right now. Volunteer at a nursing home, retirement facility, some of these people have no one they can talk with and no means to get around. They are totally dependent on others with no hope of things changing. You could be a breathe of fresh air to them. I find when I help someone else, I can realize how fortunate I am. There is someone who always have it worse. Helping at different places (you only have to do it once a week or so) is also a great way to network. Good luck!

Surround yourself with positive people. I am in a situation of great stress with the loss of our home due to the loss of my income. I am not at retirement age, so I have to work also.
The thing that keeps me sane is letting loose sometimes with a good friend who won't judge me on my venting. Then the other thing I try to do is hang out with positive types of people in fun situations. It helps me the most. It doesn't have to be all day, just for a while and I am recharged with hope.
I find I get really depressed and negative when I hang with too many people who just want to complain. Complaining is an easy habit to get into and it will just drag you and everyone around you down. So when you start feeling like complaining, do a good vent and then go have a good laugh.
Funny movies help me too.

Get yourself out walking ASAP. It is a know stress relief. Also see if you can find some good music for meditation and use that. I do with my head sets and find a quiet place to listen to it and let yourself go so that the stress does not build up. Talk to someone - anyone-just to keep going and the friendship sends out good vibes and helps people feel better. Good luck and keep us posted.
