Wendy I am new here too maybe we can learn alot together. I have other health problems that make it hard for me to exercise also. One thing that helps me is I never call a diet a diet. It is a live it!!!

Wendy, welcome to DC and to all of our lives. I read that you are not sleeping well. I had a similar problem. I was referred for a sleep study and it was determined that I have Sleep Apnea. I now wear a C-PAP mask and my sleep has greatly improved. I recently learned that people who don't sleep well release enzimes that cause them to feel hungry all the time and when they eat they don't seem to feel full. They are also prone to overdo the carbs. In rgards to you diet suggestions I can only say, try to make just one change, e.g. eat one less slice of bread a day. Do this for one week then make another small change,eg,do not eat corn or white potatoes. Do this for a week while continuing the change you made the week before. Continue the process week by week.Hope this is of some help. Pete

Welcome to the site!! I know it's hard to diet, and I'm sure it's even harder when it's under the conditions you are facing, on meds for that you need to take. Hopefully, you will be able to find some answers here. Again, welcome.

Welcome Wendy! It is extremely difficult to lose weight when you have diabetes but you have the added problem of taking meds that will add weight. Have you started with just cutting back on portions and not restricting yourself to a diet? Has your doctor given you any advice? If you are able to just walk more, that should help. Good luck in your endeavors.

Wendy, have they tested you for anything other than diabetes? The reason I ask is because either I am extremely exhausted but unable to sleep or I go to sleep but only sleep like an hour. I know this cannot be from just the diabetes and, I am like you, I am always hungry. I am having a new doctor review everything and having new tests done because I just do not feel well. There are other things that can cause weight gain and the inability to sleep. All angles need to be reviewed.
