how long does a meter last

Hi I was thinking about how long I have had my meter almost 2 years and I was thinking it might be time to get a new any ideas on how long meters last thanks

Wow! that is all great info. I had not thought about it. I like my meter so when it is time Iwill call the company for an upgrade. My dr can down load the info off my meter when I see her for my check ups. I like that feature.

They are right on .
You can call the comp that makes your meater and they will be glad to send you a new one every year at no cast to you.
Thats what I do.

I agree with Skip and when you are ready to get a new meter watch carefully because there are plenty of deals out there to get them for free 9(with strings like having to buy x amount of strips at the time). Watch during Diabetes awareness month and then you can get good deals. Also try contacting your current company and see if they are willing to upgrade you at no cost.

My doctor advised me that a meter should be changed every three years. He said that it wasn't because the meter would go bad, but that technology would have improved in that time.
