My A1C levels are down to 5.8 from 8.0 after 3 months on the Keto regimen (high fats, moderate protein, low carbs - no sugar, fruit, or refined carbohydrates). The carbs I do eat come mostly from vegetables, nuts and seeds. I still need to get rid of some stubborn belly fat. I miss certain foods (I dream of doughnuts) but have resisted giving in to momentary cravings. Once I’ve reversed my type 2 diabetes I may occasionally indulge. Or not.

My doctor is contemptuous of any attempt at any alternative but pharmaceuticals. He wanted to put me on Insulin because my A1C was at 8.0. I refused and went on the keto diet about two weeks ago. My numbers dropped to near normal levels. The latest reading was 141 after dinner, with NO Metformin taken (accidentally) that day. So I’m doing it long term (forever?).

I have not read him for a long time. I like him, but find that most are geared to sell his products. He does have some great insights and I would not discount him 100%, but read, research and give things a try. Just be careful and I recommend talking to your doctor to make sure you are monitored while you are trying new things.
