Yes, I did get mine, in 2015. today I made an acute care appt with the dr because of a painful, burning sensation on my side which seems to be getting worse instead of better and also feels like it's trying to spread around to my back, I actually saw the PA, but she said it sound like a classic case of shingles. Her first question was "did you have chicken pox?" There is some question about this, as my mother said I never did, but I've been exposed numerous times and never had a reaction. They did do an ultrasound and didn't see anything unusual and I already had a mammogram this year and got the all clear. Anyway, make sure your shots are up to date.

I tried to get a shingles shot yesterday only to find out there's none to be had. The pharmacy has it on order & is making a list to call when it arrives. The new shingles vaccine is supposedly more effective than the single shot. I tried to get my pneumonia shot updated but it's on order too! While I got no vaccinations, the pharmacy tech ran my new insurance and got everything validated.

My sister was just diagnosed with shingles over the weekend at the ER. She had severe pain, vomiting and fatigue for almost two weeks before the telltale rash started to appear. She started getting the blisters yesterday. She sought medical help when this all started, saw several drs & went to a urgent care clinic. None mentioned shingles - only when she went to the ER and the rash or bruising had appeared was the shingles diagnosed. It can be sneaky in the beginning. She suffered for 2 weeks before getting the diagnose & meds for shingles.

Sue is absolutely right - get your shots! This is a miserable condition. I itch every time I talk to my sister LOL! I hope you feel better soon Sue.

I'm going to ask my Dr if I should get the new vaccine. It kind of feels like shutting the barn door after the horse is gone. A friend got the first shot of the new vaccine yesterday and today she feels awful. She has to go back in 2 months for the second.

Since there's no visible rash, I may not have an absolute dx. I've been given acyclovir (an antiviral) and meloxicam for the pain. The acyclovir I have to take FIVE times a day and it's a BIG pill. Meloxicam is the same class of drugs as Celebrex, so I can take one or the other, not both. I have a follow up with my primary next week, so maybe I'll know more then.

When will they know if it is shingles. I have had a couple of friends who have had it. Not fun.

Yes I had shingles in 2981, it was horrible!
I got the vaccine 4 yrs ago but now they’re recommending to get the new vaccine that’s out.. it’s a series of two shots, two months apart from each other. Nobody wants shingles!!
