I'm wondering if anybody can tell me if type 2 diabetes can cause a hypothyroid condition? Or vice versa. My A1C two weeks ago was 7.3. My thyroid count required my medication to be nearly doubled. Any thoughts?

I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid 24 years ago, and I have had T2 diabetes for only 3 yrs. My T4 levels changed in the last year, and my thyroid medication was decreased. I am not sure if they have any correlation though.

I don't know if one causes the other but they are both endocrine disorders and it's common to have both.

Well, I'm anxious to hear what my new endocrynoligist has to say. After my first appointment I will post what I learn. By the way, where's the spell checker here ? Please don't grade this on my spelling. lol
