What do you eat in the mornings if your fasting blood sugar is high? Mine was almost 300 this morning. I was not hungry and needless to say I was very upset at the reading. I took my meds, had my insulin (Toujeo) and just got busy with my day. Nothing other than my coffee.

I usually eat eggs every morning for breakfast. I find that it will bring down my blood sugar if it is high. I can't drink regular coffee any more because the caffeine raises my blood sugar.

As a Type 2 diabetic on Toujeo, if my BG at breakfast BG was high, I would have a carb-free breakfast which might consist of 2 eggs or skip breakfast entirely. (It will depend upon what other meds you might be on.) Carbohydrates are the primary reason for elevated blood sugars. If, several hours later, your BG is still very high, you might be developing some sort of infection. If your BG fails to come down even after your taking your meds and eating no carbs, it's time to call your doctor. Make sure to keep a log of what you are eating to share with your MD since that could help in determining what is going on.
