BG 248 at workup..all levels elevated..2/4…got news 2/10 immediately began research..I have always been normal (was last oct.)..high energy…very active..no symptoms…immediately began low carb..no added sugar..high protein..3 meals a day 3 snacks a day…and my BG started going down..by the time I got to doc 2/20 was ok for my age etc. She did A1c and it was an 8…thing is my numbers now are completely normal..85-120…I should add I have been reading up on steroid induced diabetes siince in Dec. I had some dental work go wrong and was given 2 high does med pacs(the take 6,5,4 etc. type) to combat the inflammation.,seems this could have tipped the scales. Anyway..I am continuing on my diet and exercise programbut was wondering what you all think. In 120 days I will get A1c done again…

I'd suspect the steroids. when did you last take them?
also curious as to when your readings of 85 - 120 are being taken
eating low carb has many benefits (although not sure there are real health benefits to high protein unless you are into extreme physical activities)

❤ eat as if your life depends on it

last dose was at Christmas…my readings are taken when I get up always and throughtout the day as I am experimenting with my diet(and frozen yogurt is a no no!) portion control seems to be working for me…gonna stick with my diet tho…as I have lost some weight and have never been able to before because I ate like a farm hand..sure hoping I can have a cheat day once in a while…I miss my comfort foods..thanx for your input!

That A1c covers the past 3 months. If your diabetes was indeed steroid-induced, after your body has flushed away any residual steroids, you may be back to a more normal A1c… Your BG numbers would indicate that this is what you can expect…lucky you!
