It may be time to change doctors if that is an option for you. This one is overlooking the obvious, IMO.

If you have fasting numbers over 100 it is a sign of diabetes. If you have a post meal reading of over 140 it is a sign of diabetes. Just because you get to a good reading 5 hours after eating, it doesn't mean to not consider diabetes. Most people after 5 hours of not eating will get a much better reading. Sure, he can look elsewhere, but I would still eat like a diabetic.

Let me put it in perspective. My husband was not diabetic. I tested his fasting glucose and it was 78 (that is the range his labs always came in at as well). We did an experiment and he ate two donuts (his favorite breakfast food). I tested him every 30 minutes for an hour and a half after he ate. He never went higher than 100 and started to drop back in the hour and a half. He may not represent all non-diabetics, but his body worked well on the glucose it was given.

My diabetes educator explained that even if a non diabetic ate candy, cookies, ice cream and a giant glass of regular soda, they would not exceed 140 after that meal.

You could very well control your condition with diet and exercise and perhaps avoid crazy numbers. But I would not take my eye off the levels.

Hey Rahman, 139 after 2 hours is just under what my Dr. has me (<140), fasting # is high 70-100 is the norm. My #'s are <100 around 4:00 - 5:00 pm darn near everyday, but I get no response from my Dr. on this only the fasting #s. edit: Gabby is correct w/the info.
