Hey, were any of you aware that November is Diabetes Awareness Month?

Diabetes Awareness Month is recognized nationally every November. Those of us living with diabetes are definitely aware of the disease. But, there are some good reasons for us to be actively engaged this month. For personal reasons, we can take this month to focus on making small or large improvements to the way we manage our own diabetes. Outside of that, this is a great month to be a diabetes advocate. You can help people better understand what diabetes is and is not; help encourage people to be tested for diabetes (statistically, 8 million people have diabetes but don't know it); you can help raise money for credible organizations who are working to find a cure or better understand diabetes.

Here is more information on Diabetes Awareness Month from Diabetic Connect. How will you participate this year?

I have my "hope" wreath out and have fired up my Facebook with some information and will be doing it all week. I am encouraging everyone who knows a diabetic to wear blue...I really need to make a tee shirt for myself for this event. Just to help people be aware, to ask questions and to be involved. Get tested if they suspect. That is the best thing anyone can do.
