I have Type 2, the doctor says that even though I am on insullin I am type 2 since I got diabetes at 32. I always thought that once you started insulin you would be that not type 1. Am I wrong in that thinking?

I was on just metformin for 5 years. I was testing in the 300's so I got a new doctor since it would have taken me a month to see him. My new doctor waited 3 months for an a1c (9.8) then put me on insulin.

Your doctor is doing what he thinks best for you. I am a type 2 and was started on insulin when first diagnosed. I have very good control over my blood sugars on insulin. I was diagnosed 3 and 1/2 years ago.
