Please bear with me. My AM BS level was 119 (7:40).. Good! I checked it at 12P to see if it had changed from having a morning coffee, it was 130, I was feeling kinda dizzy about an hour later and checked again it was 99, was this because it went down so fast? I suddenly became extremely hungry (very rare for me) I had nothing really in to eat,I had a very small baked pot. (about 4 bites) w/country crock lite butter (about tsp.) and a nutrigrain bar, alls I could find to eat! Just to see how my BS reacted I check 90 mins. later, it was 170. Are these "normal" readings for someone without diabetes?…thank you for your patience with me. What does it mean,if anything, when it goes down so fast?

No, not normal

Things to keep in mind.

1. When you eat carbs raise blood sugar so watch your intake.
2. When you eat it should contain fat and protein as well as any carb you eat.
3. Breakfast is the worst meal of the day for diabetics and many find they can eat little or no carb.
4. 130 to 99 in an hour is not a quick drop in general. It doesn't really mean anything.
5. A baked potato and nutrigrain bar is very high % of carb and the 170 is not surprising.

Okay…I want to thank you very much! I am writing this down to have on hand. If this is not normal then I guess I am back to diabetes. I have to learn how to eat, when to eat, what to eat…what would be considered fat?

Thank's a bunch!

Read this blog, it has some good information on it. Especially look at the getting started, blood glucose testing and food & recipes sections, I think they will help you a great deal.

Thank You! I just came from seeing my therapist again, told her this AM BG was 129 @ 8:30am. I took it again before seeing her @ 12:10, 3 hrs. after having a coffee and small plain doughnut( I know, that is all I had)…it was 138. She said it was nothing to do w/diabetes, she was looking on a fibromyalgia website reading about gluten allergy and other things that will affect the body and sugars. I asked her right out "then what is this if it is not diabetes", she said again it can be a lot of things. She also said that if you are not eating right, having your 3 meals and snacks it will make anyone's BG spike. I then replied "then what you are saying is go on a diabetic diet but I am not diabetic"…she said "this will help keep your BG in an even level!"…I am going through a lot right (pretty bad) now,not just this, I am just so lost and confused right now..I am sorry.

I'm sorry, it was a gluten allergy, glucose intolerance would be diabetic…also something about msg etc…something about drinking carbonated drinks, shouldn't drink them, told her I haven't had any. Do not drink anything with artificial sweeteners, may be affecting my body too. Sorry sounds like a lot of B.S. to me! She is trying to tie in the tiredness, dizziness ect..also…all my symptoms. I do not believe this at all.

No joke. My morning fasting number is usually the worst of the day…so if I eat anything that is not protien it just gets higher. No cheerios/oatmeal etc. Must be eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt or the like.

I won't have eggs, and such in until tomorrow when I receive my food stamps. I will read labels and be careful even though I was told it is not diabetes, it is something else, but what that is…I don't know.

Thank you all for being patient with me!

You absolutely must have breakfast!!! It is not a choice but a fact. You need to eat soon after you take your AM BS and eat more than coffee for breakfast. Good luck.
