Whats wrong with my meter?

I have an Accu-check Aviva. Yesterday it briefly stopped working and the screen said ERR (error). So I took the battery out and put it back in. Then it started working again. Today it has done this every time I put a strip in it. And sometimes it takes me taking the battery out four or five times before it will start working again. What would the problem be? Could my battery be dead? But it seems if it were a dead battery it would say BATT or something instead of ERR. Anyway any thoughts on what the problem could be?

Thanks so much everyone for your helpful replies. I bought a new battery today and so far so good. It seems to be back to its old self…LOL. Hopefully it was just the battery. If not I'll let you all know. Thanks again.

Funny this should come up because my meter did the same thing last night. Once I opened a new package of strips and used them the meter worked fine. Go figure!

i would call the manufacter of this meter they may send you a knew one. try a new battery as well or it could be the strips as well.

I have the same meter and had the same problem recently. But I did two things and the problem stopped. I bought a new battery and was ready for new strips so after I put in the new calibator and used new strips I was fine, But I think we both need to check with
accu-check to see if there is something we need to do.

I'm not sure if this will help however, I just bought a new meeter for $5.00 from Walgreens. It is the newer One Touch freestyle freedom. I would definitly look into getting a new one (if the manufacture can't fix it or send a new one to you) that way you can still check your sugars and keep on top of them…

I don't know what is happening with your meter. I would try to contact the makers and find out what they have to say.
