I grew up in a home of dieabetics that didn't care.I watched as my parents would eat a ton of bad food and inject R if their sugars were to high.My only brother was also dx T2 and he used drugs to lose the weight and thought that was his way to deal with high sugars. I watched and learned what not to do from them!
I developed ges.d. when I got pregnant in 87' .I had it with all 3 girls and the last time in 1999 it didn't go away. I was on insulin 3x a day and in 2000 I had gastric bypass to help me with the weight and to try to get my body under control. It worked for a time, but I ended up with uncontrolable sugar in 2006. Back on meds but I am ok with it.Sorry this was so long but I read the post everyday and I feel like a new door is opening up for me!

Hi, and welcome! I too grew up in a home where T1 wasn't treated like it should be. I should have learned from their mistakes, but when I was diagnosed T2 I didn't take it seriously until a few months ago. Now I'm trying to correct those mistakes and it's nice to have the people around here to talk to and continue learning. Glad to have you!

Wow! youv'e been though alot! It is a good learning lesson for people to hear that just because you loose weight, (doesn't matter how) you still for the rest of your life have to watch your sugar.
I have heard of people's type2 disappear after weight loss, but they too should still becareful or it could come back! Thanks for sharing all youv'e gone thru.
