I always watch my sugars on things I eat, not the carbs. Is this good or bad? I also use the food pyramid table for portions and as a guild to eating what is required a day. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? ~Beav~ :) enquiring minds would like to know! :D

What I was doing was reading the labels sugar content only and didn't pay attention to the carb numbers. I would pick the one with the least amount of sugar in the package or can per serving.

Sugar is simply 100% carbs! Your body turns sugar or carbs into glucose. If you are diabetic, your body has a tough time breaking down the glucose which stays in your blood hence high blood glucose. You definitely have to watch out for both!!!

Sugar is a carb, all carbs break down to sugar. Do an experiment, one day eat a bowl of pasta and test your blood sugar 1 and 2 hours after. The next day eat a candy bar and test the same. You'll probably find your blood sugar is lower with the candy bar.

Hi! My Dear, you should be watching both. when you look at the carbs on a package, you deduct the fiber. and that gives you the correct amount of carbs in that package.
