You talk about your numbers not going down. I would be interested in your diet. You may just be taking in too many carbs. I went cold turkey on the carbs when I was first diagnosed and was able to take my fasting number from 230 to 130 in just three days. Also I believe that the carbs are a culprit in your high cholesterol level. You can check out the book on line that I follow at this website:

Calll your doctor ASAP and get help. You should not have to go through this. I know that you may have to try different meds before both your BS and GERD is resolved because I did but it is worth the effort. I take Zegerid daily in pill form, have it in powder form when attacks hits and also pain meds for when the first two don't give me enough relief. I rarely have to go beyond my daily meds but it is great to know I have backup instructions when things get tough. So hang in there.

Hi Betsie, thank you for your reply. Is this meds for your reflux? They give you pills for pain with this? I have suffered from gerds for years (just has been real bad the past few weeks) I was on protonix, then Masshealth wouldn't cover it,then on prilosec twice a day, never had pain meds for it.

315 is a high number for your cholestrol. I'm surprised your dr hasn't put you on some type of meds to get the numbers down.

My therapist & psychiatrist is not allowed to go beyond their field and prescribe meds. that a Doctor would,so I have nothing for my high cholesterol which does scare me. Yes,it is 315 total, LDL is 215,HDL is 41…I try not to get too stressed out, sometimes it doesn't work.

sounds like you are having a rough time. Maybe its your medication or lack of medication. You need to not eat at least 4 hours before going to bed and nothing spicy. I think waking up at night has nothing to do with your cholesterol although its way too high and you should be on medication for that. I think the night time thing is because your blood sugar is too high and your kidneys work overtime to try and dilute the sugar in your blood. talk to your doctor and maybe try taking your diabetic medication at night. It sounds like what you are taking for your diabetes is not enough. keep looking for answers and keep asking questions. we all deserve to feel good.

Thanks Judy! I do not take meds. for my glucose levels,I do not have a Dr. yet as my last one dismissed me because I asked her a question about my fasting level that day,I am waiting to see a Dr. next month, earliest availability! In the meantime alls I have is my therapist who is also a RN/NP. I will be bringing her my glucose levels I have written down so she can see them and document them.I will keep asking and want answers, she knows a lot in the medical field also, being a Nurse Practitioner. I don't even know if I am pre diabetic or diabetic either. I did have a few readings that were over the 126 mark.Thank you again for your advise :) Darlene

Hi Darlene,
First starters pls don't think I've totally lost my mind with this reply! lol I've had issues with the GERD problem off and on for years, clear up until the time they took out my gall bladder. Recently my bs has dropped considerably (and is staying down) because of changes I've made and the reflux came back with a vengance! Going to bed or waking up trying to decide if throwing up would make me feel any better was adding up a lot of sleepless nights. The thought in the back of my head (don't even remember where/who I heard it from) was one of those 'home' remedy kind of things for reflux. Pickle Juice. Ok, you can quit laughing now! :-) But, you know what?…I tried it and it was almost an immediate response to all the discomfort. Don't know if it's the neutralization or offset of acids, but it works for me. I check my sugars about an hour after taking a swig of the juice and it hasn't caused them to spike as of yet. Maybe it's just me, but I know it helps me. Did not want to go back to taking another pill on a daily basis for the Gerd again so I tried it. Good luck!

Yes, maam!! I agree with dill pickle juice, I keep a large jar of them on hand, and a swig or two works wonders!! However, straight vinegar is TOO much—go figure. Anymore I just go with what works for me, regardless of how ridicules it may sound. When my stomach and mouth burn, I drink buttermilk—just hold a bit in your mouth then swallow slowly! (Yougurt doesn't work as well for mE) Some gag when i even mention it, but it works for me and has for years. I can even be running a low grade temp with it, and in an hour or two, it comes back down and i feel so much better!

So don't be afraid to mention any home remedy that works for YOU, as it may work for others too!! And with that stuff, we need all of the help we can get!!!! Hugs, Pat R

Just a swig or two, not a lot, even sweet or bread and butter pickles help some, BUT I am also on 2 Prilosec a day, which really helps, for if I forget one day, I PAY!! But sometimes I just need a bloster of the dill pickle juice, or buttermilk, depends on the typ of pain or discomfort! I so wish you the best!!! hugs, Pat R
