I am a type 1 too. Became diabetic when i was 8 and had my 9th birthday in the hospital. It's not easy and every day is full of taking care of the sugars. I am now in my 40's and have had just a few surgeries over the years. I agree that it is hard to live with diabetes and that you have to be extra careful (it seems like alllll the time right?). It is worth it though, to take the best care that you can, each day. YOU are worth it!!! Hugs out there to you and know that you are in my prayers. Take it day by day, or blood sugar by blood sugar.:-)

Hi, 12 yr old! Sorry that you have had to learn to handle so much, but you are ahead of others in your age bracket! Sometimes it gives us more insight into understanding and helping others. No matter what your age, there is always so much to share so none have to feel alone!! Best of Luck and Prayers to YOU!! Pat r

Hello, I am sorry you have had to deal with so much at a young age. As a type 1, your diet is more restrictive than mine, but I hear within reason, and knowing how to work your meds, there are not that many foods that you have to stay away from. Just remember portion size. it might mean only a small taste. I have been known to take a bite of a chocolate brownie, chew it and let my taste buds have their full effect, then spit it out before I swollow any.
Good luck, If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

I am so sorry you have had to go thru so much already! You are right though, surgery makes it hard with diabetes, have to be extra careful…and yes eating different should be a proud DB, so young and gone thru so much and still standing..great job!! Hugs! Sheila
