Hello ALL, I am posting this topic under two or three areas in hope of info on this . I know someone out htere has heard something about getting some sort of pay for caregiving regaurdless of the bottomline. I am not talking about medicare/medicaid. There are sights that lead to no ends. However, I have been looking to no avail. If you any of you find a legit sight phone number or papers. Please do not hesitate to call me 3217503263 or email me personally at sammthomas@bellsouth.net small I am very serious. taking care of parents can be a costly thing even with the SSI/Supplemental that they get. I know there is something out there PLEASE HELP!!! OH! I am in FL. so it would have to be here for me to qualify. Thanks and hope all is well with everyone.

I have heard of some type of program where a family member was paid to care for his ailing father - who has since passed. I take care of my mom, also. She has Alzheimer's and unable to be left alone because she doesn't realize she can't walk unassisted any more; plus she's on Coumadin (blood thinner). I will see what I can find out about this program and get back to you.

I am a licensed adult foster care provider in the state of Oregon. We care for our uncle who is terminally ill. He lives with us.

Had he been a parent we would not have qualified for anything.

Most of the time your state or county will have an agency like Seniors with Disabilities…They can direct you on wether or not you can be paid.

I also saw this site. They looked somewhat helpful.

Also I bet you can check with AARP. They usually have good info.

It's a hard road.

You dont know the half of it. Sometimes I just want to pack a bag and head to the nearest road out of town. No forwarding address. And the biggest thing is Mom has 5 siblings that could care less and she raised them not me. I am the only child so it is my job to see after Mom.

Hello, I dont know your situation nor your parents situations but in my family, what we did for family caregiving when my grandparents got older was find a lady that just came over from where we were from and allow her to live in my grandparents house. Gave her a small wage. and made sure my aunt was able to releive her a few days aweek. This gave the lady a chance to find housing at a rate that she could afford. Not sure if that is in line with what you are looking for, but it might be a start. Good luck.

Actually, mom gets three days a week for baths and anything else for one hour. She get a box of prepared meals twice a month and the food is eatable. Medicare/medicaid pays for everything she does and they give me half her checks towards household expensive. However, I spend most of the week washing and cleaning going to the doctors picking up rx. So, I am covered with help for her but I take her to the center everyday and pick her up. Its a place that seniors or anyone that is of age goes that is not able to care for themselves. My mother cant see very well almost 97% of her sight is gone and she has dementia. She cant be left alone. So I have 6 hours a day to get things done and be by myself. Which isnt much if you have a big house and a family. The agencies here have a time finding people to work. Especailly real early hours or late. No one gets up before 6am and dont want to be out to late. In any event thanks a million and keep your hear opened. LOL
