I had neuropathy before being dxd with diabetes. It improved considerably when I got the diabetes under control, but unfortunately, it started up again. The burning and itching were unbearable. I would scratch myself til it bled. My Dr has given me Gabapentin and it has really helped. I only take 200 mg a day, occasionally 300 and it works great for me. Too bad it doesn't work for arthritis.

My Doctor put me on Gabapentin for my neuropathy in my feet and legs it has helped. My neuropathy was pretty bad , I had got to where I had no reflexes in either knee or foot. Of course getting your blood glucose numbers in the normal range also helps this, so not sure if it was all the medicine that helped or if it is the gabapentin . Whichever it has got some better.

Hi everyone I'm new here, but wanted to say that I have been having trouble with my feet for three yrs and it's been a crazy rollercoaster ride. First I was told I had neuromas then it was from my fibromyalgia then told I had mild neuropathy but felt it was more of severe plantar fascia. I've had high lactic acid levels in past and stopped metformin but was told by PCP go back on it. Well while off it was better than slowly got worse back on it but PCP wouldn't believe me. Found out I had low b12 supplemented but wasn't really helping. I really am trying to make a long story short lol. Anyway nothing seemed to be getting my blood sugar down so PCP had me take 2500 mg metformin, and I could hardly walk, bend my toes and was getting leg cramps and pain, real tired and confused. Went to the er and my lactic acids were up. I've since stopped all pills only on nph and ivy gourd, and my feet are getting better after only 3 days being off metformin. I'll be seeing a natural doc next month that specialty is diabetes. Long story short if you have neuropathy check b12's and lactic acid levels! Thanks for listening and hope I helped someone. Take care and God bless

I've been diabetic for 40 years. About two years ago I began to have neuropathic symptoms in my feet. VERY painful! My mother happened across an alternative treatment book that I believe has and will continue to change my lifestyle. It is "Reversing Diabetes" by Dr. Julian Whitaker. You can find it on Amazon. My feet problems are nearly gone with the vitamin regime he recommends, they only crop up now when my feet get really cold (we live in Canada) as a result of restricted circulation. For the cost of the book, there are a wealth of non-medical solutions you can't afford to be ignorant of. My husband has also reversed his Type 2 diabetes with Whitaker's diet suggestions.

I have neuropathy in my left foot. It is painful and numb. But,I am getting much better because I walk all the time. Believe me when I say I did not think I would ever be able to actually take a walk, but,as time goes on I am getting better just by walking. Also,I soak my foot in ebson salts and this seems to aid in getting better too.My doctor was the one who suggested that I soak in ebson salts daily. I am glad he told me about this. Now,I am doing so much better! Hope this helps you.

Hi Roger. I have this problem and it is the worst! My doctor prescribes Lyrica 75 for me and it does seem to help. Also, when you can, walking seems to help it as well. On a side note, I used to work right down the road from you in Kirwan Heights for many years. :)

I think it takes longer than 3 days to build up in your system. Once you get it thru your system maybe it will start to work even better. Good Luck. Neuropathy can be a miserable thing and really get to you if you let it.
On a different note, I am wondering if Wright's Seafood restaurant is still there??
