Exercise Motivation

How do I get and stay motivated to at least walk for 30 minutes everyday. I am on 2 types of insulin and 2 types of oral meds if I could get motivated to walk or some type of exercise my blood sugars will probably go from 498 to maybe 100's. Any information or advice will be helpful here in Georgia

Motivation is the key! I remember when I was diagnoised and had the greatest trouble resolving and accepting that fact that I am diabetic! Once the reality hit hard I started to make some modifactions.I started walking in my apartment complex compund.A it was a huge place I used to make like 10 rounds as good as 4 miles.In 2005 my cousing from India invited me for my niece's wedding.I met all my nieces and nephews and I was surprised to see how grown up these kids looked and I was sharing with them the stories of my young day! They were all putting on wiegth and i was the one who was lokking slimmmer than my sisiters atleast!That's the time on my return journey I said to myself this looks to be a great idea that every year if I loose 10-15 lbs and may be go for visiting India & wedding. I love wearing beautiful sarees dresses and socialize!I am trying my best to walk 30 minutes.Buddy system works too! or just do it for the sake of your health!When you go out for walk tell one mantra! EXERCISE IS GOOD FOR YOUR BODY MIND AND SPIRIT!

Can you find a friend that is willing to walk and talk with you? It might help your walk time to go faster if you have a buddy go with you. Chat your 30 minutes away. It will go fast that way and be done before you know it. You might even walk a little longer and not know it. :)

Ah, the 30 minute walk problem! Actually it is a proven fact that you don't have to walk the 30 minutes all together. You can break it down into smaller segments and get the same benefit. So maybe you could find a way to 3 ten minute walks during your day like after eating.

Yup I heard the exact same thing Skip mentioned ,I break mine down to two 15 minute walk on my gazelle

yes he is right, then you can increase it 5 more at a time affter meals is good i was also told to check you blood before you do it during if your doing more see if you need more carbs to carry on i walk 1hr i take a cranberry energy drink if i need it.graduly do it after a while you will be able to do more and you will lose waight. good luck
