Went to doctor this morning to get lab results, okay here they go—-total cholesterol is 195—yeah!! and triglycerides are 458, and HbA1c is 6.5.
Based on this lab report, the doctor wants to add another diabetic pill to my morning agenda and add Trilipix for triglycerides. I am not wanting to have to go on another diabetic medication if the current one is working for me. ADA recommends HbA1c to be under 7, which mine is.
I agree that the triglycerides need to come down, but I think he is wrong to want me to take more medication for the Diabetes, I want to try and come off of the medicine. Have lost about 7-8 lbs since my last visit.

The recommendations vary, the AACE recommends under 6.5 and some doctors recommend under 6. My personal opinion is that under 6 is a good goal and 5-5.5 is ideal, as long as you are not experiencing lots of lows. You have to remember that if you get complications down the line it's you who gets them, not the people who come up with the guidelines.

What medication do you already take and what does the doctor want you to go on?
