I was wondering what to do? I don't like to drink just water at all. But I have type 2 and am ALWAYS super thirsty. Sometimes I will give in and drink pepsi as well. But is there anything anyone else out there is drinking that is satisfying for severe thirst. Thank you very much.

I love water any way I can get it. I can't tolerate the artificial sweeteners, so I put a lemon slice or a few frozen raspberries or strawberries in my water. Use carbonated water if you need the fizz (I don't like it very much, it gets me too full feeling)

Keep working on those numbers!

as well as ice teas, I also drink crystal light type drinks. These are sugar free and do taste good. The problem is that they are basiclly dyes added to the water with some flavor. So it makes your poo different colors also. Do dont be alarmed.

When I'm really thirsty, plain old water w/ lots of ice in it for me. I like to put a bottle of water into my freezer to "slush up" for when I get a little hungry in between meals. I know that there is nothing in it, but drinking that thick slushy water seems to do the trick for me and curb the hunger too.

I grew up on a farm and ranch in Montana and drank water out in the field all the time, So I need to get back to that. And have been drinking some more bottled waters more and more. It's pretty tasty in this summer heat and humidity.

I drink flavored seltzer water, available in most grocery stores. If you check it has no added sugars, or artificial sweetners. It will give you the soda fizz you may be looking for and still satisfy your thirst.

I buy sugar free drink mixes and add them to my water. Love it!

Everyone has great ideas. I also buy the different flavors of drink mix to add to water. I am desperately trying to cut way back on the diet pop I drink. I do drink more water, however sometimes I too crave something else. If I had had a few sodas that day I have tried putting about 1/4 of a lemonade flavered tube into a can or bottle of carbonated water. That is carbonated water with nothing else in it. When I speak of any beverage, it is always sugar free. I choose to chew my carbs. When your sugars are high, you should be drinking far more glasses of water as your body is attempting to flush out the excess suagr in your blood. And yes, check with your Dr about your med doses and schedules, your diet and exercise regime. And lastly, give yourself time to develop new habits, they take dedication and patience to form the good habits, which in turn hopefully replace the bad habits.

There are times when I get super thirsty as well. I love to drink water. For a chance from plain water I will use lemon or lime slices in it. I also drink some diet drinks. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

First of all, one of the signs of high blood sugars is thirst. Pepesi once and a while is no good. How about a diet pepsi. I love ice tea and lemonade, diet of couse. But I truely like water. I use lemon, lime or orange slices in it. Even tho my BS are under control I still sometimes have a dry mouth and thirsty. I found out it was due to some of my other medication. My suggestion to you is the check your BS at the time your thirsty. If they are ski high you don't need to drink a pepsi that has 12 spoons of sugar in it. I think you need to talk to your MD or dietitian about this. Keep us updated…

Thank you very much Debe, I just checked my suger levels and I am thirsty and they are at 302 right now. So i am going to drink some bottled water and have a Glipizide 10 MG tablet. Thanks again. I am looking forward as well to replies from more people. I will try that too next time I go to the store in picking up some fruits and putting them in the water.

The high blood sugar is the reason you are thirsty. Your body is trying to filer out the sugar via your kidneys which will be causing long term kidney damage along with other things. You need to forget about adding fruit to the water and concentrate on getting your blood sugars into a lower, closer to normal range.

What is your diet and exercise like? These are the two key elements that will help bring your numbers under control and eliminate the thirstiness.
