Fifteen years as a T2 without being on diabetic meds. I've always been overweight and inactive.

Three events occurred around the same time: I was diagnosed as a T2, I rediscovered the bicycle and I retired.

The rest as they like to say is history. I've taken cycling beyond the bike paths of S. Calif. to touring in the Black Hills, SD., Kans., Az., Tx and even Canada.

Along the way I dropped 30 pounds and 5 in. on my waist.

Focusing on training means I think less about eating. Everything follows from the activity.

Thanks for your view.

Not only do I get and stay healthy, but I get to see the world and the inhabitants at eye level one revolution at at time.

Years ago I read an article which I think was entitled, The Bicycle, the Benevolent Machine.

On the other hand, you do what you enjoy the most.

So, keep swimming.

Yes, swimming is great and now that our Wellness Center has burned to the ground last week, I was a bit leery of getting weighed at Tops tonight, but I lost another .6 # , not much but I have lost a tad every week for about 8 weeks now, down to 209# I know, that is still too much, BUT at least I have STARTED LOSING!! I no longer work so shouldn't Now to fit boredom! ha—PR

Well, good for you! Any direction on your weight but up!

I think for me boredom will be a killer for me. It sends me off to the frig about every hour.

When I retired I knew I could not sit around. That would have been the death of me.

So, keep moving!

Thank you for your support.

I realize that for many it's difficult to find the time and or the activity which one can carry on over an extended period of time.

That said, it is easier to loose weight and keep it off by virtue of some activity than loosing that weight and keeping it off by dieting. I know people have lost weight and kept it off dieting, but they are rare.

Also count the benefits of burning off those carbs you ate yesterday.
