I had a similar thing going with my left leg. I was not getting help from Regular Physician. I went to a podiatrist was referred for test to determine circulation. I found out circulation was not very good on the left side of body have been referred to Vascular surgeon to determine treatment. Ceck with Dr. and if necessary get a second opinion.

Please go see your doctor,

If you are taking Avandia or anything in that family there is a warning about that.
Do not put off talking to your doctor.

You should definitely see a Doctor as soon as possible. I used to work in a pharmacy and have seen many different treatments for many ailments. Some took medication and others only needed to wear what are called T.E.D. knee hi's which are put on as soon as you awake before getting on feet. Wish you lots of luck! Keep us informed.

Something that can help is getting up and getting active. I sit at a computer a good part of my day and found my feet and ankles would swell and it was very bothersome. If I get up and walk around it really helps. I have the luxury of working at home, so I distract myself for a half hour and wash some dishes or clean or just play with the dogs. Anything to get me off my butt. We have trouble with circulation and our fluids collect at the lowest points. Also, one of the first things I do after a day of working is relax in a recliner for a while, that relieves a lot in just 30 minutes.
But like both John's are saying, Doctor visit is a must. My mom suffers from Edema where her legs swell so bad she cannot get her feet into shoes. She wraps and elevates and watches her sugar AND salt intake. So keep on top of it.

I had the problem of my legs & feet swelling so bad that I was afraid they would split open, & of course the pain was unbearable at times. I have Fibromyalgia & Myofasical Pain, so the doctors couldn't find anything wrong. This went on for almost 2 yrs. In Jan 08 I was told that I was getting neuropathy (?? sorry on spelling), "nerve" damage in my legs & feet.

I had started seeing this one doc for my general health, but never went in about my legs & feet. Until it happened & nothing helped, my legs & feet swelled for over 4 days. I went in & "Bam" - was told it was most likely diabetes.

Yep, that's what it was. I do have nerve damage in the legs & feet. But once I was able to get my BS controled, etc.. it got better. I've only had 2-3 boughts of the swelling, but if I "layed" down in bed for 2-3 hrs (which was the only thing that helped me) the swelling would go down.

When I 1st found out I was Type II, my A1C was of 3 months ago it went down to 5.4. I am using meds & a carb diet to control my Type II.

So many things can shoot your BS up or down. I honestly believe if I sneeze it will shoot mine up (LOL). Remeber to "write down" (keep a journal) of when things get worse. If you are upset, just ate, what you ate. Do you have pets, using other meds (how u feel & what your BS 1 & 2 hrs after you take other meds). All of this is important, also you never know if something could be a side effect of something else.

Also… PLEASE check w/ your doctor and have him/her test for PVD (vascular diesae)..

I wish you all the best. Hope this problem gets better..

You absolutely should see your doctor right away.

It sounds like you may have neuropathy and a doctor could provide you with medications for the pain and to help relieve symptoms.

I had a problem like that a few weeks ago but only in one leg from just under my knee down. My doctor ran a few tests, but couldn't find a problem. She sent me for tests to see if I had a blood clot. Thank goodness that was neg. The pain and swelling lasted 3 days, then just went away. Is your pain in the same place mine was? I hope you feel better.
