It could also be something like "trigger finger". It is best to have it checked out to be sure. There is also something known as Dupuytrens Contracture. That is where there is something pressing on the nerve in your fingers that will eventually curl your fingers permanently. I have had surgery for this before. I also get shots in the palm of my hand about once a year to help with the pain from this. Go to DupuytrensCenter.com to read about it.

Hello Pete,

It could be caused by neuropathy, but it could also be one of many many other things. With a symptom such as this, you should check with your doctor and have him determine the cause.

Meanwhile, try using a heating pad on medium heat for 15 minutes or a little longer. If it is arthritis, this will probably help a little.

Hey Pete,

I had something similiar. I spoke to my primary care physican who set me up with a neurologist (nerve specialist). He poked me with needles and ran electricity in them to test the nerves in my arms. He told me there was nothing wrong with my nerves at all so it must be arthritis. In fact he said my nerves were acting like someone half my age which he found surprising in a diabetic.

As Avera pointed out, this could be an indication of several things. It's best to speak to your doctor and see he or she says. The heating pad trick should work well. I also take advil if I am extremely achey.

Best of luck and I hope you feel better soon.
