I'm hoping some of you here have heard of the TCOYD (Taking Control of Your Diabetes) seminars around the country. This is a GREAT way to learn about diabetes, meet other patients, and get motivated.

Take a look at their web site, here:
www.tcoyd.org

and also my review of them here:
http://www.diabetesmine.com/2007/08/tcoyd.html

They're almost free (about $35 including a great lunch) and totally worth your time!

I just registered for the TCOYD Native American conf on June 20, 2009 in Sacramento, CA. This time I am taking my husband, since he does most of the cooking!

I am going to be starting a nutrition class here in April and it is presented by TCOYD. I think that is just so cool. It is 9 weeks and there are 3 evaluations and a follow up. I can't wait to start.

You are too modest Amy.
That is great that you will be speaking at the conference in California. I would love to attend, just to meet you. That is just a bit too far to go. Perhaps you can convince them to let you speak at a conference in Orlando...visit Micky Mouse. Then I could see you in person. What a treat that would be.

Mission Statement
Guided by the belief that every person with diabetes has the right to live a healthy, happy, and productive life, Taking Control of Your Diabetes works to educate and motivate people with diabetes to take a more active role in their condition and to provide innovative and integrative continuing diabetes education to medical professionals caring for people with diabetes.

With a mission statement like this, they sound like great events. I went to the website and became a memeber for only $20. I like it because it is a doctor who has diabetes who heads it up. He truly understands.

I attended the May 2008 seminar near Solvang, CA. It was worth driving 5 hours & a motel room. You'll get so much information that it's difficult to assimilate! The Dr. who started the seminar practices in the LA area…
