There are really some cools one out there..My son designed his and it turned out really cool. It was a star with a snake going thru it. He put his diagnosis date on it to. A family friend that does tats did his, just make sure they are using steril needles and the area is steril…He was in accident in the spring and the EMS had no problem finding his tat, he put it on the back side of his wrist…Later they told me they thought it was a great idea…Good luck!!!

Having been in the presence of a fair number of EMS guys in the course of my 32 years as a diabetic, let me caution you with this; they look only for the bracelets. I used to wear a necklace medic alert (I am a chemist and the bracelet always catches my gloves), and they *never* found it. I used to ask them about it, and the response was always the same; we only look for the bracelets. They might not notice the tattoo, even if it is on your wrist. Just a thought.

Oh, and as a diabetic who successfully manged to get 2 tattoos with no problems, remember that most tattoo parlors *will not* give you a tattoo if you tell them you are diabetic, and they do usually ask. In saying you are not, and signing the consent form, you are removing the ability to sue them in the event that anything goes wrong with your tattoo. If you end up getting an infection, or have problems from the process that are not related to your disease, lying to them about your disease eliminates their liability.

Just another fact to consider.
