I read in an article somewhere that it is highly recommended that diabetics test before driving just so they know where they are at and if they may need help. I was wondering how many members test before driving or what you think of it.

I don't have a car but if I did yeah I would test before driving to be safe. You just never know, best be safe than sorry! Sheila

I would think a T1 checks more often during the day (as a whole) than a T2. But anyone who experiences lows should be aware of their condition before driving. I myself have expierenced lows while driving. Good thing last time, wife was in car with me. I just pulled over and let her drive. Took a glucose pill and made sure I was ok. Im a T2 so I dont worry about it as much. I dont test before getting behind the wheel unless I am feeling a low comming on.

I have to as when they were adjusting my insulin I had an adverse reaction while driving. Fortunately I was able to get off the road without incident but don't want to take a chance on that happening again. It was scary.
