True, I cannot exercise much right now because my knees are so bad, but I have had some serious issues with not being able to eat and I lose weight but it comes right back on. I watch my diet, that is the only way I have to control my diabetes right now. When I was diagnosed 3-4 yrs ago, I made a total change in my diet. Can anyone help? I really want to lose this weight. And I mean for good!

I very much understand your problem. For 2 months I tried being soooo good with my diet only to loose and gain the same 4 pounds! Very frustrating I know. I also have bad knees and back and can only walk with a walker. Well I was lucky enough to find help. I'm now going for aqua therapy my insurance covers it. I go 4 days a week. They even have a treadmill in the water ! It has made a major difference for me. As of today I have lost 25 lbs.in about 6 weeks. I do 1 hour on the treadmill and 1/2 hour of arms and leg exercise. I don't know if there maybe something like that where you live. I hope so… it has been a life saver for me. I could never do on land what I can do in the water. Try to find somewhere that you can get into the water and just move or swim whatever you can do. Let me know if you find something.
Best of luck to you… dont give up !!!!
Hugs, dyanne

We do not have anything like that here but it sounds wonderful. A treadmill in the water? wow, what a great idea!

Okay, please don't take this wrong but I have read some posts of yours' before…I personally think you need to find yourself a new doctor. One that believe in medication. I mean you really sound like you need some form of pain management. Also, you said you wasn't on a diabetic medication even…I dunno some medications they have now help you loose weight too. I have the same issue, my knees and back…hell all over and I hurt…walking hurts, so next week in my appointment with pain management!! YAY! I think! LOL Depends on the doctor I suppose. Also, I could not stand my doctor, I see my old doctor I had before I left town years ago…he finally had a opening for Ty n I and we go on Tuesday to see him. So I am in high hopes medically things we'll get better. A lot of people from here told me to use cans, or whatever as weights and lift with my arms as I sit…a form of exercise to try…I must admit I never did…but I was walking better for a little while there so I kind of disregarded it…give it a try, I dunno. Best of luck, hope I did not offend you!! *HugS* Sheila

I have a good doctor. I am not on pain meds right now because I am preop and they want my meds after surgery to work better. I take Lyrica for my fibromyalgia but I am unable to get it or any meds filled until next month when my med insurance for meds kicks in.
I am one of many diabetics who are not on medicine for it. My a1c is 6. I control with diet and exercise…I am having trouble eating right now and I am unable to exercise.

My apologizes to my comments above. I did not mean harm. I see your point, and you are right…not every diabetic has to take medication. Sorry!! *HugS* Sheila

Hi, I was just going through and reading some comments and I noticed yours. First of all don't be so hard on yourself, your a1c is 6, I only wish I could say that, good for you. Your not on alot of meds. even better. I agree with Sheila even while sitting move your leggs up and down and biciep curls with your arms with or w/out weights it all helps in the long run. The stress of your up coming surgery can also have an affect on your mood and your weight. I know I'm a bit nervous about a heart cath. I'm scheduled for on the 22nd.It would appear that I failed my stress test! I wish you luck with your surgery and your battle with weight. I have been a yo yo dieter for 30years although I know in my head to take in fewer calories and get more exercise it's hard to stick to a routine
