What next! In our local paper there was a glossy ad insert from Bayer Contour and on the bottom was a coupon for Coloured lancets, a different colour for each day of the week yet! I just wish these companies would put all that extra money into researching something useful -like a cure- instead of wasting it on advertising and manufacturing costs for so many colours, on such trivialities as this. Besides they'll probably find the different coloured dyes cause cancer too.

I'm not going to deny that as soon as I read your post, I too, thought that this is just another way that the large drug companies are trying to cash in on so many people all over the world having diabetes. After all, a cure for them would be bad for business.

However, I also have to agree with Gabby and Sarguillo. If someone can come up with something to make life with diabetes more bearable for the children, I am all for it.

Also, these colors just might make self care easier for the elderly as well. I'm getting on in years and have started to forget little things from time to time. I've got to admit, those colors just might keep me from making a mistake one of these days.

I tend to agree with Sarguillo. I bet these are targeting children. It gives a visual on if you have changed your lancet for the day. Sometimes if I get out of my regular routine, I forget if I have changed my lancet. It is not a lot of money, I know to just put in a fresh one, but I use one all day, and this might help kids figure it all out and help them be more responsible for themselves and their care.

hello, this might be crazy but they also might have a viable idea here. If they can offer different colors and that may attrack younger children to view the lancets as not such so bad hurtfull things, then maybe their caregivers might have an esier time taking their readings. It cost the company to offer this idea, They must have put in some research into why they are offering this idea. If it helps one person out, why not.

I agree that it is a waste of time and money to manufacture colored lancets. I think this is a crazy idea.
