I know I am new but I have been very sad about a person who has influenced my life, by just making me very happy about my world. It makes me sad that Michael Jackson has died and that maybe he did not take care of himself as much as he should have. I know that everyone dies but I am 2 1/2 years from 50. We have to take care of ourselves, watch our diets, not take our lives for granted. Kahil Gibran said in a poem much of our pain is self-chosen so lets choose not to take our lives or our families lives for granted.

We had a Bible Study at church Sun afternoon and Micheal and Marilyn Monroe committed suicide, I tried to correct that by saying that it was an accidental death, encouraged by over zealous Drs trying to PLEASE to the point that they self destructed—-trying to GIVE them whatever they ASKED for, not knowing what they were really doing, meds can cloud the mind and reason, BUT they didn't get it—-so judgemental!!! I HATE THAT!! Pat R

Unfortunately, another celebrity death to report. Fred Travelena, a Vegas Impressionist has died. I have seen him on many tv shows, such as the Tonight
Show, and other variety shows and talk shows. It's just strange that there has been so many in so short a time period. I know everyone dies at some point, but this is just becoming eerie to me. Condolances also go out to his family.

My nephew and I were talking about Michael Jackson a few weeks ago as he was loading his new ipod. He of course only has known the bad things the press has shown about Michael. I was telling him about the Michael Jackson that I grew up with. SUCH an amazing talent. The first album I ever bought was Jackson 5 with Micheal's solo about his pet …anybody remember "Ben"? I will always have great memories of Michael's music and am praying for his children and his family. No matter what has happened to him in the last years I will always remember his amazing talent and his incredible voice. I pray that his legacy is his music and his wonderful work with charities not his exentricities. RIP Michael.:{

Hi Becky,

BRAVO…Well said and I agree. After all we, each one of us, may have had things that we're not pround of and mistakes in life has been made, but Michael was human and should also be remembered for the good he has done in this dark place we call a world. He was a light that showed all men, meaning all races, that we have a common ground and that is love.

Fact is Micheal was a genius and he no longer had a need for things here. He was long overdue. This world was to boring for him. Especially after he had achieved the highs he did. I agree with meet the press, we will never ever have another Micheal or any other genius that has graced the world with such ease bringing all colors shapes ans sizes together an all else is forgotten. I truly get off on his music.
He will be missed.

Gwen,

You have said exactly what I also feel. It almost feels as if a very special light has dimmed for the world yet again..

So I'll just say this…

Good night Michael. Thanks for all you did and for all you put up with just to be able to shine your light. Hope to see you again one day.

Hi Claudia,

It is truly sad that this happened for what is still considered to be a young age for Michael and the others who passed on this week. My prayers and thoughts are with each one of their families and that God help them heal and understand why they have passed on.

Hugs and Kisses

How much of Michael's destructive life pattern were his own wishes, or trying to fullfill the expectations of other? Both, I think. with so much talent, a genuis, from what I hear, he probably did have lots of DIFFERENT thought processes that he felt compelled to live out, then his public and the media did expect him to do so too. It sometimes is hard to change "in mid-stream" what others seem to expect of you, and then this is how he made his living— but TENSE ENERGY can drive the mind to resort to ODD things to keep going—-one thing leads to another, even if he knew that he was on a trip to self destruction, he felt powerless to change, then change to what?? Fear plays an important part in our life's choices! What about Anna Nichole, Elvis, and other celebrities? It takes a special talent to succeed and by the time that they wonder if it is worth the price, they have become powerless to change.
Then bad or negative critics, can cause one to distance themselves from reality, as it hurts—-which calls for more and more weirdness to strive for some sort of balance. No, I would say that the call of fame is only to be endured by the SPECIAL——and I am glad that I am NOT one of them.
My own life was stressful enough! ha—Might as well laugh! The families of such are probably relieved in a way, but terribly sad too—-wondering if they have done enough to help make their loved one, happy. I, for one, in trying to help my despondant 98 yr old mother (just a regular person) happy, I realized that only THEY can be responsible for their own happiness! I ruined my own health in learning THAT lesson, only to hear others complain that I wasn't DOING ENOUGH to help her!! What??!! If they only knew, but they don't and really don't care too!
So best wishes to everyone, especially the gifted! Pat Roth

My thoughts still stand and we all have had things to happen in our lives that has effected us in one way or another. Reguardless to his mistakes and questionable life, Micheal was still human.

It also saddens me to hear of Michael's death. This past week has been a bad one. Michael, Farrah, Ed McMahan, and I just read that Billy Mayes, the tv ad pitchman for oxyclean, and other products, has died. They say it comes in three's, but this makes four. Are we to expect two more in the next few days? Smypathies and prayers to all the families and friends of those who have died.

Wow, Billy Mayes too? Didn't Bea Arthur pass away just a few weeks ago too? I know it was one of the Golden Girls, I think it was her, could be wrong though. Who next??

2009-06-28 13:37:37 -0500 Report

Yes she did. I had forgotten about her. Boy, it seems like it hits all at once, doesn't it. Can't help but wonder who's next. Makes you think about your own life and those around you.

I forgot about Keith Carradine's passing just a couple of weeks ago. That makes six. So many.

Hi Claudia,

I was saddened to hear of his death as well. It saddens me even more to hear that he may have had problems with prescription meds and not much was done about it.

You are so right about the importance of taking care of ourselves not just for us but for the people we love.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this matter.

*hugs*

Judi
