How many people think the food manufacturing companies have played a part in the number of people having Type Two Diabetes increasing? Considering the amount of sugar, fats and ingredients we can't pronounce easily that is in food would make you wonder. Just a thought. I come up with stuff like this some times when I'm not watching TV. I was even surprised that they put sugar in cigarettes. I found that out by picking up a load of sugar in Baltimore, MD, and taking it to Concord, NC.

That is about the worse conspiracy theory I have ever heard in all of my many years on this planet. You cannot blame food manufacturing companies for causing Type 2 Diabetes. You and ONLY you are responsible for what you put into your mouth.

I have no idea what causes diabetes. "They" say it's a combo of extra weight, sedentary lifestyle, food choices, genetics, etc. But a WHOLE bunch of America is overweight, sedentary, and eats horribly. How come only 10% have diabetes? Why doesn't every one fitting that description have it? Why the heck do I have it???? SMH…

Not all overweight people are diabetic and may never become diabetic. Just like there are thin people who develop diabetes while other thin people don't. The last person who asked me why they became diabetic, I told them it was their turn. Don't know why they didn't like that response.

That's why I have no idea what causes it. If the "Established risk factors" actually caused it, tons more people would have it. A huge majority of overweight and obese folks will never become diabetic and there's no amount of food they can eat to make it happen. My doc says she has several patients who are over 300 pounds and eat terribly yet are much healthier than me.

I don't know why more thin folks aren't diabetic. As a thin type 2 myself, I've been learning how much muscles burn sugar. My body isn't built to burn sugar. Very little muscle. I'm just skeleton, skin and boobs. But thin small people still get just as hungry as larger folks. Larger folks, because they carry around heavier bodies, have more muscle and burn more sugar. Seems like more thin folks should have it too.

Thinking about this just starts to drive me batty.

I do not spend my time on these kinds of thoughts. I spend my time taking care of my diabetes. Why some get it or don't get it is of no importance to me.

I honestly have no earthly clue why people become type 2 … but I am positive that it is not some dastardly plot of food manufacturers or the drug companies

My mama is a very smart woman…and always cuts to the chase…YOU are responsible for everything you put in your body…At the end of the day..food manufacturing companies don't make things they cant sell…If everyone who had a problem with chemicals and sugars in foods would just stop buying them…they wouldn't make them anymore…MY problem is NOT with them…let Capitalism rule and let supply and demand figure it out..MY problem is with a government that allows certain ingredients to be used that are harmful to us…such as pesticides and food colorings…and takes payola in the form of campaign contributions to turn their back and approve things that should NOT be approved… Remember..Companies cant use it if it hasn't been approved…
