I HATE sweating…a matter of fact that is the one thing I hate about living in SE Louisiana..our summers are 6 mos long and insanely hot and humid…You can imagine how often I get into the saunas at my gym…NEVER…after watching todays Diabetes Summit I think I will make time at least several times a week to go into the sauna and detox the heavy metals in my body…I encourage everyone to tune in today and watch todays interviews, and Tomorrow to check out any of the most popular interviews you may have missed..I have been an information fiend since I was very young..information is power…

I love the sauna. BUT because it is not a personal one (at my own home but rather at the gym and therefore public), I must watch that I have no cuts or bruises that might get infected by the water. I still love to go into the water and enjoy it better than a cold pool although I do like to swim.

I don't drink kool aid…lmao too many carbs for me…It makes sense…and it really isn't the first time I have heard this…I always research everything and will hit the web and other resources when I get a chance…but the source on this does regular testing…it is hard to argue with someone who has before and after results…I am a very result orientated person…so if a person has 100 patients with measurably high heavy metal levels…a treatment is prescribed and then they all improve..it is hard to argue with..I do know that heavy metal toxicity is NOT an easy thing to rid the body of…most of the detox crap sold on the markets is just that…crap…but this makes sense to me…and cant hurt…Spring break starts Wed for me…yay me…so I will probably put more time into research at that point.

There are a number of claims of hundreds of people cured of diabetes by assorted holistic methods.
Self-validating claims do not science make.
But you are right … it can't hurt.

I agree…way to many people market crap to desperate people that do nothing but empty their bank accounts..But as I said..this makes sense to me..and she really has nothing to gain from this particular treatment…people will use local saunas…and well my gym membership is already paid through next January and I go everyday to jump In the pool anyway…soooooo…

If I could afford a gym membership I would grab a steam as often as I could and I really miss water work outs.
maybe some day

question? Where do the "heavy metals" come from?

They build up in your body from the environment…the air we breath…the water we drink…the food we eat…I think we all know that we have pretty much destroyed everything on this planet…even a healthy piece of fish or a "organic": salad has substances in it that are not suppose to be there…

That is changing very quickly sadly to say…we (my generation)..is really the first one raised on trash..sorry to say..My grandmother use to shake her head at the foods that were being introduced into the stores…She would tell us it was garbage and we should eat REAL FOOD…yep…ALL of the older people in my family agree…Food use to be food..it isn't anymore…and I have MANY friends that live outside the United States that say our food just taste different/Bad..I know a woman that emigrated here from Germany…It was her dream to live in America…I worked in Real Estate with her..She moved back to Germany several years ago…the reason…she had two small children and she wanted them to grow up with real food…not food shot up with hormones and antibiotics…and fed unnatural things…grains/fruits/veggies sprayed with god awful amounts of pesticides…My husband is Syrian…not more than a few days go by between him saying how the food here is so bad…he grew up where food was locally grown…he says our fruit doesn't taste like fruit…our meat doesn't taste like meat…I can give 100 other examples…but I don't think you really want to read them all.

sad but true. People don't eat food anymore, they eat food like products. 50 years ago none of the products in stores we have now even existed!

I am lucky enough to have well water but that doesn't mean it is exactly safe either because who knows what leached into the ground in the area! I have to agree with you, we are rapidly destroying the environment and factory farming is one of the worst causes, I'll stop at that.

This is great timing for me. This coming weekend, for our 35th anniversary, we will be staying at a spa retreat. We will be spending our time in saunas, whirlpools, steam rooms, etc. and enjoying a wonderful massage. So glad to know about the added benefits to all of that.

I have been a mental sponge, enjoying the Diabetes Summit speakers. Looking forward to catching up tomorrow on the ones that I missed while traveling. I have learned so much and I am designing a different approach for myself thanks to all the new info from these speakers. I can already see my numbers going down and I haven't even implemented everything that I've learned yet!

Saunas and hot tubs do need to be used with caution. I totally get the detox about them, but there are issues with great heat and diabetes and medicines. Not saying don't, just saying to be aware, make sure you are not alone and that you don't cook yourself. LOL

My husband just found out, after about 15 years of having his interthecal pump (not a diabetic pump), that he's not supposed to get into those because it breaks down his medicines if it gets too hot. It broke his heart. He loves getting in the hot tub at the gym.

I have missed the weekend interviews, so I will be trying to catch up on some today. Thanks.

That is the reason I stayed away from them even when living in NYC..There is just so much mixed information out there on many things…But my medication therapy is very limited and coming to an end altogether soon..Probably at my next visit in two mos…So again, and I have said this many times and SHOULD have said this in this post…NOTHING that I ever post is to be taken as Gospel or in any way to replace or add to your current medical treatment…Take all questions to your health care professional and do your own research…and if you are not comfortable with your health care professional or his answers it is time to search for a new one…If you are..well then keep on keeping on..

GabbyPA 2015-03-30 13:28:20 -0500 Report

Yeah, disclaimers are so much fun. LOL I didn't mean to poo-poo your post. Sweating is great. I listened to that on the summit as well. Very good information. I just wanted people to be aware. We never knew about my husband's med issue until we watched a webinar on his pump. Wow, it was an eye opener.

I enjoy a good sweat, but I just do it in my garden. I don't mind a hot tub visit now and then, but I have never tried a sauna. I know someone would think I was dying. I turn so freaking red when I'm hot. Not pretty.
