Hi everyone, thanks for being here.

my diet history has changed dramatically so now i am having high blood sugars again. i mainly eat brunch late morning and eat enough for both breakfast and lunch together. the problem is i dont often eat any more that day except a fruit snack during the afternoon. this is making my blood sugar high when i take it at night time.

my insulin regime is set up for eating breakfast a snack lunch a snack and the dinner. i am supposed to be taking my insulin with each meal. i asked my specialist what do i do if i dont eat a meal and she said just dont take any insulin until you eat again. i see my specialist at the end of the month again and i can put all this past her then but in the meantime i thought i would post here.

should i increase my insulin dosage at brunch time so that my night time reading wont be so high? i take Humalog. i am Canadian and my blood sugar should be under 10 for the night time reading. right now the way i eat it is more often between 10 and 17.

thanks if you can help.

Denise: I could not survive if I went on your regiment of food eating. I must eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack (all between the hours of 7AM and 8PM). I may not eat much at each meal, but I make sure that I do eat something. I am not trying to tell you what to do, but if it were me, I would change the way that I ate so that I had more meals, less filling, more even so that I don't have highs and lows that are that dramatic.

How does the Canadian 10 or 17 equate with the American 100s?

Maybe if you ate less for "brunch" you might be hungry later in the day. My breakfast is a protein drink. I try to eat "big" for lunch (unless I know that I am going out with friends), and then for dinner I have yogurt with cashews and a cut up fruit. My snacks are celery with peanut butter, or a protein bar, or whatever is left over from the days before.

you eat very well. i cant help it if i am so hungry for brunch. i have tried to eat a regular breakfast and then a snack and then lunch but it does not work for me. i will be seeing the specialist at the end of April so maybe she will help me. thanks.
