Recently I had an eye exam with an optometrist (I believe) and he said my maculas were swollen because of my diabetes.

The only symptom I have is light sensitivity and sometimes blurry vision.

He said it so non chalantly, and didn't mention anything about treatment options.

So I've got a follow up appointment but in the mean time has anyone else had this issue? Are there any treatment s that don't involve needles?

Poorly or uncontrolled diabetes is one of the leading causes of blindness. The fear of losing my vision gives me the motivation I need to gain better control of my blood glucose. It's one of the things that is in my control, although it's not always easy to make those dietary and exercise decisions. It might also be best for you to consult with an ophthalmologist who is in a better position to give you treatment advice than is an optometrist.
