Just wanted to let everyone know that I went to my Heart Dr last month and he took me off all but two of my Blood Pressure medications . My Blood Pressure is now staying lower than it has in the past few months. Last Wednesday I went to my Primary Care Doctor for my A1C test and it came back 5.4. My Doctor told me I no longer had what they consider Diabetes but Pre Diabetes. He took me off the Metformin and told me to continue staying with the Carb Diet and Exercising. He was pleased with my weight loss and told me to get the last 30 lbs off and I will not have Diabetes anymore. I am working very hard to do this and am almost into a size 14. Even if I get it totally under control I am going to stay on here to encourage others to get moving and stay with the Carb Diet to get rid of their Diabetes. I pray daily for all. To all that are still struggling it can be done you just have to pray a lot , eat right and less , and exercise.

great!! congrats to you! I was told same thing when I got to 5.4 and tested that about three times over the course of a year and a half or so. I think I am still kind of pre-D it is way past due for A1C test, but daily numbrs are very good. I love these stories! I thnk when people, if they do, go back to eating the old ways and not exercising, D in full force will return.

when the nurse called me with those results years ago, she cautioned and told me that if would come back someday. I don't know. I am going to keep on doing what I can and fighting. we will see.

Howdy Deb.
you readings sound FANTASTIC!

However your Dr is incorrect on a couple of things. One is "[He] told me to get the last 30 lbs off and I will not have Diabetes anymore". Once we have diabetes, even T 2, there is no not having it anymore. You will find that out when you get there and slip and have something you shouldn't. You will find out that the diabetes just doesn't go away. It lurks there in the background just waiting for a slip up. Your BG (blood glucose) meter will tell you. You may be able to cut back on the number of times you test, but I would not recommend you don't test then at all.

So I am encouraging you to continue the great work and am praying for your continued good health

I am on the Carb diet for good. My Doctor told me to stay on it and I intend to do so. Especially since Diabetes is not the only thing I have . I also was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease but the last blood test showed my kidneys to be completely healthy. I stay away from Dairy products not only because they are bad for the kidneys but I am allergic to them as well. I have had kidney disease since my 20's and it just got worse recently. I have read up on a lot of the diabetes reversing and it can be done. There are Shamans in South America who have helped a lot of people totally reverse their diabetes and they no longer have it. If you stay on a Carb Diet and eat the right fruits and vegetables and get to your high school weight it is reversible. Prayer also helps . I believe in the healing power of Jesus and know that I only have to ask and His will be done in my life.

Great job on the A1c and weight loss!!! I think the once a diabetic, always a diabetic is true. 5.4 is a pre-diabetic range and it will certainly stay there if you continue your current path. But not having diabetes means you can eat a couple of donuts and your blood sugar likely won't go higher than 120.

My a1c is 5.5. My weight is 112. But today I ate six donut holes and a glass of milk. With an hour and a half my BG was 215. I'll always have diabetes.

Keep up the great work and lose those last few pounds, but don't be fooled into thinking you're not diabetic. If you think that, it's easy to creep into a "normal" way of eating. It just won't work for us.

I know what my Doctor says is true, because I have read up on it.I also listen to the Shamans and they have healed many people with diabetes. If you stay with the Carb Diet and don't eat what you are not suppose to eat you will rid your body of Diabetes forever. Eating the right foods heals your body and therefore you never have the diseases again. I know because of my kidney disease that I had. It is completely gone. I changed my diet and will always eat this way from now on and continue to lose my weight. I pray daily and believe in the healing power of Jesus. I know that if only I ask His will be done in my life.

Well all I know is that I never left my high school weight. I'm a size 2. I've never eaten things I shouldn't. Yet I still got it and it's never going away. Even if I keep my a1c where it is or even lower, I'll always have it.

I'm sure your current way of eating will keep your numbers in a healthy range.

All of that information sounds very encouraging! You should feel very proud of all those accomplishments — I hope! You should!
I always get confused about some people saying if diagnosed a diabetic — you will always be a diabetic & others, like yourself, say your doctor say you have been downgraded (or upgraded) to pre-diabetes. Whatever the case - sounds like good stuff!
Congrats girl!
