I had noticed previous to my diagnosis (03/02/2015) that my vision was blurry among other things. How long, about, before my vision will improve and stay that way? I am due for a vision check in August and am not sure about my vision issues.

My Dr told me my vision would improve once i got my sugar well under 200 and she recommended
Not getting my new prescription until my a1c was better so instead of getting my eyes checked until 4 months after dx and a1c was 5.5. I saw a marked improvement right away once sugar were under 200

August is 5 mos away…I wouldn't wait that long..when I started taking metformin my vision got really bad really fast..I went in for a full eye checkup and was told my eyes were perfectly healthy and my vision would return to normal a few weeks after my BG was kept consistently under 200…and my vision did return to normal…BUT my eye doctor told me as a diabetic I have to take any changes in my vision very seriously and if I noticed any significant changes I should see him right away…

get an appointment to see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible
I started having vision issues and "dilly-dallied" and ended up losing vision in one eye.not something you want to put off
better safe …

Good suggestion, steve, just if the opthamologist discovers the need for a postpone the acceptance of a Rx for glasses as the Rx will waste money on a set of glasses which are not going to do much good as the Rx will change due to lessing pressure in the vitreous humor of the eyeball.

God's best to you

Howdy MWMcCoy

It has been my experience that one's vision should correct itself in about a week since there is no blood circulation in the Vitreous Humor (clear jell in the eyeball) I have had my opthamologist tell me that it is best to wait 2 wks before getting an eye exam done. So if you keep your BG (blood glucose) levels under reasonable control you should be OK for your August appointment.
Praying for a good exam for you
